Could always try Ralink 3592BC8 which is not in the whitelist...it has 5ghz and bluetooth

Nope you wouldn't I currently have it installed on my DV7T and i used to have the Intel 6230 with mod'd bios....But then had to update the bios and found a card that finally isn't on HP's whitelist

yeah theres a whole thread about it on Notebook Forums but so far the Ralink is the only one that is not on the whitelist that is dual band
