Hello,

Unable to flash this..., used Winphlash, but it gives me an error:
Corrupted interface descriptors in the new BIOS file.
http://qs.lc/87ha4 (rar file has the same md5/sha1 hash)

I have an acer aspire 5740G, I only need to enable virtualization, so I can study for an exam...

Hi BDMaster and bios-mods,

I am an Acer 5740g owner with the latest 1.28 bios file.
My Acer is running windows 8.1 x64, and I have smashed into a big wall, "virtualization".

As my work involves a lot of visual studio 2013, and windows phone testing, I have decided to learn some serious programming in c#, as I cannot afford a more suited laptop (similar to the workstation I have at my workplace) and neither a windows phone 8.1, I would really need the bios unlocked, up and running with virtualization.

I have read the entire 3 pages from which I have tried one bios file still available in page 1. But with no success.
The steps that I have followed are:
1. renamed the bios.wph to "JV50128.WPH"
2. Launched as an administrator "JV50128.exe" by Winflash method.

Outcome:
The flash is successful, windows is restarted automatically with no unlocked options what so ever.

Here is my bios link: BIOS 1.28 A_A

I am serious and I will provide as much details as I can, I just need some guidance and if necessary an unlocked bios with virtualization.

Btw, the last two files hosted in the rghost.net are deleted Sad

Happy new year,
Eugen

Spot on,

Made a bootable memory stick with RUFUS using the FreeDOS option available there, dragged and dropped the FLASHDOS.BAT + the rest of the required files and voila it worked like a charm Smile

Now I can emulate windows phone without a problem.

Thanks, Steven and overall thanks bios-mods.

Cheers and a Happy New Year,
Eugen

I just wanted to stop in and say "Thank You" to the dude that came up with this bios hack. It just royally saved my butt after replacing the CMOS Battery and repasting the CPU. My 5740 was showing the processor as 1 core, 1 thread. The CPU Control Sub-Menu was what I needed! Whatever Acer uses to fix this issue, they charge $100 to do it (if it's still under warranty).
