[SOLVED] Upgrading BIOS on Acer Travelmate B-115M: Correct file name?
#11
Glad you got it working!

I've added BIOS 1.10 to my post as this was the last BIOS before BIOS 1.12.
Maybe this is a more general problem with BIOS 1.12 rather than a failed update process.

@msmith,
Is it letter I or 1 after SK in the file name? Thanks for your excellent help.

@kriketkat

It is the letter "I", not the number "1".

Running a "strings" to your flash file, found a lot of .fd coincidences, but "HEREACrisis.fd" is the only one that made sense to me... I know this answer is late, but maybe it still can work for you or somebody else...

Hope it works, bye!

The recovery name should be "SKI2Luffy.fd".
Got the recovery name through UEFITool:

Here's the latest BIOS (1.12) with the correct name: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PyiPi6x...RXvL3/view
In case you can't get this working with BIOS 1.12, try this file (BIOS 1.10): https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jcvwcQ...hoPgeB_8gQ

Flashing as usual:

1. Copy the BIOS file to an empty and with FAT16/32 formatted usb stick.
2. Unplug the AC adapter.
3. Plug in the USB flash disk.
4. Press and hold <Fn> and <Esc>, and then plug in the AC adapter while still holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
5. Press the Power button. You can now stop holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
6. The BIOS flash should now begin, the fan will spin up and the power led should change its state.
7. After everything is done, the notebook will shut down.

Hi... My laptop model is Acer Aspire A515-51G. I stuck with the same problem. After loading isFlash.bin file in UEFI tool, it shows invalid UEFI volume error. Please help me out finding the right name. Thanks in advance

hi, i hate to necro a post, but i'm also desperate to know how to work on my situation. acer spin 5 515-51n https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/su...t/7383?b=1

there's the bios list, also i had used BuzzKBL.fd as i had searched it in UEFItool but it doesn't seem to continue, it turns on with no display, reads the flash because i can see the flash's LED blinks but then turns off. after that, nothing happens.

please help.

I'm in the same boat, trying to flash a brand new Acer Swift 1 (SF114-32) to the latest version.
https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...ER&SC=PA_6
This thing is sold with Linux, thanks for the .exe, Acer?

I did try the steps mentioned before and the only string I was able to come up with is 'SapporoGL.fd', unfortunately nothing happens upon doing the Fn+ESC shuffle, it just boots through.
Any ideas besides immediately returning this POS?

/e: Turns out first post was putting me on the wrong track, NOT processing the file with any extractor did the trick. Just simple and plain rename and it worked, a bit scary with zero feedback on the screen but it came back nicely updated. Thanks everyone.  Heart
