[Test] Request whitelist removal for HP Mini 210-3000 (sp54086)
#1
I have a HP Mini 210-3000CTO with an Insyde BIOS and have been trying to get it to allow me to use a different HP wireless card. I get a Wireless Module not supported error, eventhough it is an HP part from a Mini 110.

Old card (Atheros AR5B195/HP #592775-001):
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B

New card (Broadcom BCM94312HMG/HP #504593-001):
PCI\VEN_14e4&DEV_4315 (Google search)

I wanted to try and do it myself, but it appears that EZH20 does not edit bin files and that is what this BIOS uses. I believe the BIOS is RSA signed and I accept the risks of that. I would be eternally grateful, if you could help me alter the whitelist of this BIOS. Please let me know if you need any more information.

The file is located here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54001-54500/sp54086.exe

Thank you in advance.

I successfully flashed the new BIOS, but I still get the same error? Is there anything else that can be done?

Thank you, I no longer get the error. I do however have another issue. The keyboard button, that turns off the wireless doesn't work and even though the wireless card is correctly installed; it can see any networks. I think it is because the wireless is off. My laptop does not have a software way to turn the wireless card on or off. I looked through the thread that you referred to, in the sticky post and I didn't see anything that pertained to me. Can you advise me on what to do?

To add another issue, I can no longer edit BIOS options. When the HP Mini 210 starts up; at the HP logo screen, it gives you the option to press the escape key to access the BIOS option screen. That no longer works as well. This menu is very very important and I hope that I can keep this BIOS revision and get the menu working again. If not, can I flash back to a previous (Whitelist intact) BIOS?

This bios is RSA signed, if you enter bios setup with a modded bios you can end up with a brick. I advice you to flash previous version or this same but the original, enter bios setup make your changes and then flash modded again to use any wifi card.

I can try to enable again the menu, but would be risky because of RSA signed. Read the sticky threads to know about it.

I thank you for your efforts in helping me with this. Due to the risk of damaging my laptop, I have decided to not continue in this endeavour. Once again, I really appreciate your help in this matter.
