Try boot with one dimm.

No luck in either slot. I tried hooking up the VGA to an external monitor, nothing shows there either.

Did you load default values in BIOS?

when i had the T4200 in i was in the bios and restored all bios settings to default and saved. this was after i updated the bios to v.2.50
