so i woke up today and started to think of the LPT parallel cable SPI flash for which ? hmm W25X80 (001200EF) and MX25l800 (001300C2)
http://mondotech.blogspot.com/2009/05/as...flash.html
and
http://richard-burke.dyndns.org/wordpres...-p5b-bios/
i have the cable and the technology.. just not the experience (i went to I.T.T. tech in 1993 for electronics eng .. yeah i never finished it)

one interesting note i found in comments is

This tutorial was a huge help although I had a different chip that threw in a few changes. In case you’re reading this and you have to flash a Macronix chip, here are some tips.

1. Manf. datasheet was very helpful… find it and use it. Here’s the one I had.
http://www.mct.net/download/macronix/mx25l8005.pdf

2. remember HOLD# pin and WE# pin must be tied high for the chip to be recognized

3. Use FlashROM, it’s a much more robust program. I got a bad flash using SPIPGM (or SPIPGM2) that I believe was due to the speed of the programming. The name of the Rayer programmer in the command line is “rayer_bitbang_isp”

I didn’t time the programming, but I believe it was even faster than the Rayer code despite warnings of slow programming on his site.

4. CWSDPMI link is dead on the Rayer page… use this one or google it because it is required.

ok i finaly opened it again and found w25x80avsig but no sign of mx25L800 anywhere so now im soldering leads to it.
my final question is .. which file should i use.. the devel35p.rom or the flashabl.rom ?? bahh im going to flash the slic 2.1 for it.

im glad my sister has a desktop so shes not in a hurry for her portable.

ok no go with lpt method..spipgm2 seems it cant even identify it so something wasnt right.
i checked the dang cables 2 times and still no go.
i might just desolder it and take it to a xbox modder to flash the bios in it.

EEDIT: found mistake in the cable.. used wrong value resistors .
also found this chip has to be removed from mainboard ..weird. but true see post bellow by someone.

"The mainboard have an SPI flash W25X80A, my SF100+testchip SO08 can detect the flash type, but can not erase the flash correctly. After contacted with dediprog engineer. i remove the flash from the board, it seems fine, the programming is fine, but i can not use it with the mainboard unless i can bear removing the flash chip every time i need to rebuild the coreboot. After that, i replace that flash chip with an sst 080b."

got it to flash with spipgmw and cmos batt and 22uf cap and 147 ohm for lpt. think i need more ohm like 220 for stable data stream.
bad news is i have damaged a trace by bios on pcb. friend is fixing it.
i tried contacting soltech for a mobo.. no answer.
