[Unlocked] Disable AHCI Mode in HP DV7-1103ef (unlock hidden bios
#1
Question
Im new to bios flashing, so I hope i'm in the right section... Anyway my issue is that i need to activate IDE mode in my BIOS. Sadly for me, HP locked the BIOS so IDE and AHCI mode are not configurable. My guess is that i have AHCI.

I have an Insyde BIOS recently updated from F.13 to F.2D. available here (on hp website) : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previ...7&sw_lang=
My PC is a hp dv7-1103ef.

[edit] I just realised F.2D was not modable so i will downgrade back to F.13

I would basically like someone to edit (or to teach me how to edit) my BIOS so that i can activate the hidden options and therefore dis-activate AHCI.

I got lots of information from another forum site if someone wants to give it a try: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...b0c4396eb3

Thanks, Max.

Does your bios setup have "System Configuration" menu? Can you post some screenshots of your bios?

Hi, thanks for your reply. My BIOS does indeed have a "System Configuration" menu, however lots of the options are unavailable: here is a pic of the menu: http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/1197/photo0428f.jpg

And this is what it should look like AFTER a mod: http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/2128/...ionmod.jpg
(this is for a slightly different PC)

As you can see,the "ide controller" option appears, that is what i need.

I guess so, but there is always a way to recover from a bad flash right? Have you read the thread in the description? It might help.
Thanks again.

Recover in your case should be as easy as formatting a pendrive and put orginal bios bin file renamed to F3.BIN and the WIN+b trick on power on.

It's late today, tomorrow evening will have the first test ready Wink

Ok, I'll give it a shot, can i flash directly from windows seven? This is for F.13 and not F.d2 right?

Yes, you can directly use it as the stock flasher. And it's latest verson F2D.

Test it, no fear. Smile
