dv6-6190 bios update problem - help!!!

I am trying to flash bios for whitelist removal on hp dv6-6190. i downloaded a file with the appropriate service pack number (pointed to from a whitelist removal forum - but not this one) and double clicked on it to run. the laptop fan went to full speed, and keyboard locked. waited for an hour or so, and tried to shut down via power button, which would not turn off the PC. Not sure what i do from here. I will probably leave on overnight, then pull the battery and hope for the best. If i have bricked the laptop, is there any way to recover. HELP!!!!!
