impossible to acess bios in Vaio: definitely bricked ?
#1
hello everyone,

I own a VAIO PCG91211M (VPCEj1M1E) of which i recently flash the bios from windows seven. I am afraid that, as my system was probably infected when i did it (which i found out later, of course), my bios got infected as well. Now the bios is simply impossible to acess: i have tried the keys from F1 to F12, the ASSIST key (which should work), the F8 and F11 key (to acess the boot sequence), take the HD out, to see if the machine would go to the DOS, nothing. I finaly low formated the hard drive, in order to erase the virus. So now, the system boot is stucked on C:/ and returns me repeatlingly an "Operating system not found" message.

So, i assume, the thing to do, would be to reflash the bios from a USB stick, in order to erase the virus. But i can't do it, as boot is stucked on the C:/ drive.

Would you guys have any idea on how i could get an healty bios back or is my laptop good for the trash can ?

Your help would be reeealy apreciated, as i'm a little bit nervous, as you can imagine.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Nico

P.S: the pc has an Insyde 2.0 bios

The only Way to remove It (if It is present) is to use the SPI PGM and rewrite a Firmware

Hello guys,
i'm coming with some fresh news. I managed to boot my pc on a linux disc, after copying the disc to C. So, now, i have acess to the dos from parted magic. So, i'm ready to try to flash the bios from there. But, my only concern, now, is that the latest update of the bios i have is a windows 64 bits application only.

After extracting the exe file, i found the followings:

- CHKENV.exe
- FLASHWIN.BAT
- InsydeFlashx64.exe
- iscflashx64.dll
- iscflashx64.sys
- platform
- R0200Z9.ROM
- Sleepless.exe
- WBFLASH.exe
- WBFLASH.scr

So, do you think i should be able to flash my bios using some of those files (R0200Z9.ROM, maybe.. ?) ? And if not, would now a place on the web where i could fin a bios version executable under DOS ?

Thanks in advance.

NIco

Thanks BDMaster for your help.
That seems kind of (very complicated). I will maybe, before, try all other solutions, as for me, disassembling a laptop is already a bit complicated.

Do you think flashing the bios under a DOS environement could work ? Any clue on where i could find a dos compatible file for my bios ?

Cheers.
