need help adding sata pci module to phoenix bios
#1
hi,

i have succesfully inserted the rom for a cheap sata pci card in my mainboard phenix bios oprom using PBE. The sata card is based on the via vt6421 chipset and the mainboard bios is a phoenix 4-6. I can see the controller program execute in the POST and i can access the raid configuration utility.

Now the thing is i still dont have any way to boot on the sata controller since it is not an option in the bios. I plan to somehow add the new device in the boot sequence of the mobo by analysing what happen with the ethernet controller... wich is bootable and is in the oprom too. Maybe it can be done in PBE without dissassembling any rom module.

But before i go into reverse engeneering the bios id like to know if someone here have any advice on the subject to help me narrow my search.

Thanks

Please post a link to your BIOS , as well as the make and model of the SATA PCI card and the make/model of your motherboard and bios version

ok i managed to boot on the sata card... the thing to do was to set the first boot device in the mobo bios to an unexistant ide channel and disabling the second and third boot device... the sata card is used to boot only as last resort by the mobo. So im happy that no hacking is needed there.

thanks all the same for your attention!
