I'd like to request assistance with replacing the stock Centrino 1000n card in this laptop to either an N6230 or a N6300 series wlan card.

My laptop --> dv7-6163

My bios --> F.1A

Man, I didn't mean to offend you and I apologize if I did. I was just worried that maybe I made the request wrong. HP has been no help and this is driving me nuts.

ok, I see the file for sp54024, but it says HP_DV6_6XXX. Is this the one for my DV7_6163?

Both cards work now. Only problem I had was when I 1st tried to flash bios, got message saying it failed. Read somewhere that it has something to do with the HPTOOLS partition that the laptop has. I renamed the partition OLDHPTOOLS and the flash program ran and rebooted. I now get no error message when booting with either the 6200 or the 6230.

Can you please confirm the following:

1) Where did you buy the cards? are they the HP manufacturer ones?

2) What did you use to rename the partition? Something like a Gparted bootup CD?

I heard this modded BIOS worked and I wanted to try it to get the Intel Centrino 6230 Card mentioned above in the OP's message to work on my computer

I beleive the sp54024 file in your test file would work however I can't find it. Can you kindly put it back up. Pretty Please!

Just a quick question, does this mod completely remove the WLAN card whitelist, or just add the 6230 to the list?

I'd like to install a Killer N 1102/1103, but I want to confirm before I drop money on the card.
