[REQUEST] Acer Aspire V3-571(G) BIOS Unlock

(12-15-2012, 04:17 PM)jahadu Wrote: Doesn't the official bios recovery method work for you? Far easier than digging for a battery deep inside there man

I haven't tried that yet. Might do so though Tongue I thought that battery can be found easily Tongue
How can I get that BIOS file out ? Extract it from the .exe file ?

UPDATE 1: Have 4 different files in my thumb drive, 2 .fd files and 2 .bin files. and the method didn't help :/ I guess I didn't put the right file (right name) so the laptop can't recognize it

UPDATE 2: Got that fixed finally, have to use the Fn + ESC one to fix that, now my laptop is back running, but can anyone tell me if those modded BIOSes fixed the GPU Throttling already ? Or have to change any settings ?

I have now flashed the modded 1.13 bios for my V3-571G and as far as I can tell, it seems very ok this far.
So, thanks to the people in this thread who made it possible. And let me just say, that the Advanced options
enabled by this mod, enabled options I have never seen and there are LOTS of them. This is the most
advanced bios setup I have ever seen, not to mention - in a laptop. WOW.

Not that I'm gonna have a lot of use of them, but just having them enabled makes me feel better
about this laptop. It feels more advanced! LOL

BTW, FaithAnarchy: What exact option did you alter, that semibricked your laptop?

There is a resolution changing option in the Intergrated Graphic Device that I changed then messed the whole things up Big Grin

No throttle down here, you need to edit your advance bios.along with another utility.
Then use nv inspector to round it all off.If you swat up on things you will reach your Goal. The internet is your oyster.
My M630 does 98 before throttling down.
Glad you resurrected your laptop,I`m glad to be of help, was I?

Some more info and thoughts...

I tried the USB FN+ESC downflash to 1.13 factory bios. No dice.

The 2.x bios has the Microsoft required Win8 Secure Boot features turned on. Some info from Intel about secure boot http://www.intel.com/technology/itj/2011...curity.pdf Of note are pages 89-92. With the recovery option on page 92.

Here is a document someone wrote about the UEFI on a Lenovo T430, which happens to be the laptops my company uses and I have several to work with (I'm 'the image guy' for 18,000 PCs in the US). With secure boot on, a system won't boot to a USB stick to load Windows. Disable it, and it does. I haven't had any come in with the v2 Win8 Lenovo bios preloaded to try downgrading them. But I think if we can get the Advanced options in the Acer 2.x bios unlocked, disabling the secure boot and recovery options may let it happen.

On the heating part, now that I've used it for awhile, I've seen some rather hi temps playing Civ5. GPU up to 90* C and CPU up to 85* C. I'd even started using a Targus dual fan mat to help airflow. Yesterday, I took it apart (scary since it's barely a month old) to look at the fan and cooler. The heatsink grease on the CPU and GPO was hard and had basically liquified off the top of the die's themselves. I cleaned the OEM stuff off and put on Thermaltake TG1 and put everything back together. With the new grease, it's down about 10-15* each, 79* GPU and 75* CPU.

Looking more at the cooling in the V3, the service manual lists 4 units. UMA for the Intel integrated only spec, Thames for ATI Radeon units and 2 Nvidia offerings. From this link.. http://videocardz.com/29825/nvidia-graph...eries-gpus the N13PGL would be the GT630M and the N13PGS would be the GT640M unit. The fan is the same and the board for i5 (630) vs i7 (640) is probably the same, so I was thinking... what about ordering the N13PGS thermal unit from a GT640M spec to put on the GT630? For ~$50, it's worth a shot. With the additional heat the 640 generates, it would have to cool the 630 much better than the stock 630 unit. nearly 190* F is kind of scary for long term durability.

Anyone with a i7/640 unit feel like taking it apart for pictures to see if it's the same bolt pattern as the 630 unit? The stock grease is probably crap on those as well and would be better if replaced.
