[REQUEST] Lenovo Thinkpad X230(i) (G2ETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
Hello, Dudu2002!

I want to patch my BIOS on x230 Thinkpad motherboard.
Currently i have battery and keyboard patch from Thinkpad-ec - my motherboard is i7-3520m wAMT wTPM, it's installed in x220 case with x220 keyboard and x220 battery.

Can you explain some moments, please?

1) In my past user expierence from old x220 motherboard (luckily, old board had patched before me), laptop beeping on AC attach/detach, sleep and hibernate. x230 with stock BIOS has missing option in BIOS and not beeping in this actions. It is possilbe to back in this feauture? (I have an x220 modded BIOS dump too)

2) After some time i've noticed that Bluetooth LED and CapsLock led is not working with x230 Motherboard. It is possible to back in it's functions? Separate indication Wi-fi/BT are very useful for me.

3) It is possible to remove or trim Intel ME from BIOS without missing functionality of laptop components?

4) ...and it will be beeping 5-times with patched BIOS? I've planning to use TPM in OS as keystore, etc.

I want to get theese options:

- unlock Advanced menu
- Wi-fi / WWAN whitelist removal
- Battery whitelist removal (currently have)
- 16 Gb 1866 support
- eGPU fix
- x220 keyboard support (currently have)
- unblocked AES MSR 0xE2
- unblocked AES MSR 0x194
- x220-s behavior of CapsLock/Bluetooth LED
- x220-s behavior of ACPI beeps (AC attach/detach, sleep&hibernate/resume, low battery)
- cleaned Intel ME firmware

Thanks for patience! ROM's with md5sum's attached.

Ok, it's sad... An other patches are possible to install? What about TPM - it's accept patched BIOS without beeps? Thanks.
- unlock Advanced menu
- Wi-fi / WWAN whitelist removal
- 16 Gb 1866 support
- eGPU fix
- cleaned Intel ME firmware
- unblocked AES MSR 0xE2
- unblocked AES MSR 0x194
- Battery whitelist removal (currently have)
- x220 keyboard support (currently have)
- x220-s behavior of CapsLock/Bluetooth LED (unable to patch)
- x220-s behavior of ACPI beeps (AC attach/detach, sleep&hibernate/resume, low battery) (unable to patch)
P.S. It's possible to get two versions patched BIOS - with ME and without ME (just in case)?

Thumbs Up
Hello, Dear Dudu2002!!!

First of all I am sorry for my dump questions. Confused I am not a programer as you and sometimes It would be hard to understand the details for me. I am a bit afraid this kind of BIOS level things.

I will be really really really appreciated if you would help. Rolleyes

I have a X230 i7-3520m system with 16 GB 1333 Mhz ram. I need 2 things;

1. I want to use x220 keyboard and x220 battery.  (I also have X220 keyboard and battery)

There is a patch from Thinkpad-ec. (I understand that  Thinkpad-ec is effect the embedded controller via BIOS patch and gives x220
keyboard fix and also Battery whitelist removal)
I have updated my BIOS to the official BIOS 2.76 but not yet patched form Thinkpad-ec. (having some issues but I believe achieve it   Huh
https://github.com/hamishcoleman/thinkpad-ec/issues/151

2. I want to patch my BIOS on x230 Thinkpad motherboard to able to your whitelist removal.

So these are what I need;

• x220 keyboard fix (I realy need this. Should I make patch from Thinkpad-ec. Or your patch cover this or I have to patch both by order?)
• Battery whitelist removal (I realy need this. Should I make patch from Thinkpad-ec Or your patch cover this or I have to patch both by order?)

• WIFI whitelist removal (I realy need this)
• WWAN whitelist removal (I realy need this)
• Unlock Advanced Menu (I realy need this)
• 16GB + eGPU fix (Now I use 1333 mhz 8x2= 16 GB ram without no problem. Is this overclock to higher mhz. It can be ok with eGPU fix )
• LVDS disabled (In future If able to use FHD mod, I don’t idea what LDVS is )

My question is can I use these two patches without any conflict or etc. The order of patches is important? Should I make first Thinkpad-ec patch and than your White list removal BIOS patch? Or your patches can be cover all my needs?

I have seen someone uses same x220 keyboard users on x230 in this topic. And user named eldo (in post number #87207) request the similar things. And also the post above #1012 posted by loop-64 has a similar question.

And final stupid question is coming? Smile How can extract my bios file to be able to send you?  I realy look for how to do it and could not find how everyone makes  Tongue

Thank you very much in advance!

Hi
Your bios is rewrite protected...you need a SPI-programmer+SOIC8 clip only
Check your PM

Sad to hear that  Confused  SPI-programmer+SOIC8 solution contain technical information that I would not dare to do.

I was wondering that I have the same BIOS with eldo's; BIOS 2.76 (G2ETB6WW) but you have sended whitelisted bios.
Why did you think my bios rewrite protected??

This is not BIOS 2.77 (G2ETB7WW) which has a digital signature As the result of CVE-2019-6171.

Yesterday, I have reflashed my embedded controller of my X230 succesfully with Thinkpad-ec. It is effect only the embedded controller not the bios. Now, I can use My x230 with x220 keyboard and alsoI have Battery whitelist removal

I am on BIOS 2.76 (G2ETB6WW) and looking for bios patch for;
• WIFI whitelist removal
• WWAN whitelist removal
• Unlock Advanced Menu
• 16GB + eGPU fix

Why did you think my bios rewrite protected Mr Dudu2002? I am asking because I have seen lots of post that their system has BIOS 2.76 and you replied them as bios succesfully patched. etc..
