In the meantime i would recommend installing these if you havent already

http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_wi..._whql.html

They are WHQL certified for Windows Vista / Windows 7

Can i ask why you want the updated VGA bios , are you experiencing issues with your current one?

Replacing a VGA bios can sometimes offer a small performance boost but nothing significant when weighed up against the risk of flashing

Ok man listen to my big story and what i am trying to achive!!! recently got for free an acer aspire 7720G with a dead 8400m gs so i was thinking to take my 8600m gt from compal and put it in the acer one because acer has a newer chipset and 17'' screen. But here's the trick acer bios can only recognize video bios from acer as well so i must put in my compal card an acer video bios. But neither nvflash nor nibitor can read the video bios from my card. Then i saw that in the release of campal ifl90 bios v1.12 it updates the video bios!!!So that's why i asked you to make a bios which upgrades the already installed video bios and can recongnize it also!!!i hope i made everything cleared out...For any other information just ask me!!!!

Oh!!! This changes everything

I should be modding the Acer bios with the Compal VGA rom , not the other way around!!!! Tongue

Unfortunately though the latest acer bios is an Insyde bios. While i have the utilities to replace the VGA ROM , this will be much more risky to flash and chances of recovery will be smaller

If you want to go ahead then let me know. Il take the compal VGA bios and insert it into the latest (v1.45) Acer 7720G bios

Personally i would probably leave it as is because theres too big a risk.

However , it would depend on cicumstances. In theory , this is NOT your main machine and you got it for FREE so really your not missing out. If i had this for free and had nothing to lose id go for it but if it was my main machine and id paid for it i would leave it.

If you choose to go ahead , then please read this and prepare BEFORE doing anything!

Flash at your own risk!

I would welcome your feedback either way Smile

Excellent news i made it and bring back to life the 8400m gs by baking it..Yes yes you read right by baking for 10 min in 190 C degree preheated oven. So for the moment i would stick to my two laptops and not experiment. But i don't i really want somehow transfer my 8600m gt to tha acer system. Now the problem is that when i going to do it you friend admin must build the compal bios again so it recognize the 8400m gs!!!! Big Grin and something else you are being able to isolate the compal bios?? if so please give me a dowload link and i will send to the guys which makes nibitor to add support!!!

Never have i heard you can resurrect a graphics card by baking! Tongue

I would like some further information into this!

Here are the 3 VGA ROMs extracted from the v1.18 Compal bios:

Hello
I have the same compal IFL90 Santa Rosa and my graphic card 8600m GT 512MB is dead... again.
I have recovered it three times using oven method but it is temporary solution for few months.
So I bought 9600m GT and would like to ask for modding my laptop bios to recognize video bios for new graphic card.
It exactly comes from some Acer laptop and has following specification:
NVidia 9600m GT 512MB DDR3 GPU clock: 500 MHz, Memory: 800MHz, Shader: 1250MHz
Device ID:10DE – 0649, Bios ver.: 62.94.38.00.04 (P016-0001)
I have found bios to that card here:
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/62869...80619.html
GPU-Z doesn’t recognize my old 8600m GT bios version but it has device ID 10DE – 0407, GPU: 475 MHz, Memory 400 MHz, Shader: 950 MHz
I backup my current compal bios version 1.18
