HP SP52477 BIOS - No whitelist and unlocked BIOS (READ BEFORE USING!)
#1
Hello bios-mods,

I have decided to combine a couple of existing mods available for select HP dv6000 and dv9000 models with the nForce 630M chipset (Board ID is 30D1! do NOT flash on any other board!) The mods in question were Ahmed Hossam's SP52477 unlocked BIOS, and Camiloml's NoWL BIOS. I simply just imported TEMPLAT00.ROM from the unlocked BIOS into the NoWL BIOS, so now we have the best of both worlds. I also wanted to clarify this as I didn't really do anything other than repacking things.

Unlocked BIOS allows you to change settings otherwise locked out. A no-whitelist BIOS allows you to use any WiFi card, so long as your computer is compatible with it. There actually wasn't a BIOS image with both of these modifications done, so I combined these two to give your system the best of both worlds. You can do all sorts of crazy things in the setup menu. Changing RAM clock speeds, adjusting power management, and SO much more. Some things may not work as the original BIOS was not intended to call certain functions.

KNOWN ISSUES:
-AHCI does NOT work! This is in the menu... for some reason. Enabling it causes the BIOS to not detect your SATA drives. HP likely did not implement this as AHCI on these older nForce chipsets is known to be considerably buggy. It is also likely that the hardware itself is not entirely capable of such, either.
-Some WiFi cards may have issues on certain machines. Someone reported issues with the Intel 5100 card, and another person got a 3160 card to work. YMMV!

HOW TO FLASH:
-Rename either 30CFF34A.WPH or 30CFF34B.WPH to BIOS.WPH and move it to either SWinFlash or WinPhlash64 (depending on your operating system's architecture.) Yes, there's probably an easier way to do this, but this is what I do. There's also a bunch of extra batch files that are shared with both of the archives, likely relating to Phoenix BIOS commands for Windows/DOS.
-Simply use WinPhlash. I don't really need to explain this one.

Good luck to like, the one person who still has one of these old laptops downloading this. And it does work, specifically works great on a dv9610us. Not sure if anyone here really cares about hardware from this era anymore so I'm uncertain if this will be preserved on here or not... oh well.

Big Grin Big Grin Wow this is very cool !!! I have almost 10 of those dv9000's and a couple dv2000's collected as collector's items.
You can buy those laptops for 15-25 euros here.
i think your finetuned bios is only for the AMD version right ? and only the older ones have the nForce chipset
I preferred the dv9000 intel version and with the T7800 processor @ 2.60 ghz, they are on Ali express for only 9,- euro
Changed the voltage on the fan from 5 to 7 volts with a voltage regulator
And because the videocard is always running to hot, i  placed thermal pads everywhere (around the die,
between heatpipe and motherboard, between housing and heatpipe, and between motherboard upperside and keyboard,
using the big area of aluminium keyboard as a cooler) it runs very fast with ssd ! i also tweakedmy windows 10 a little bit (removing
the interactive tasks from the tasklist as already a big difference or just install tiny11)
The amd version feels a lot slower than my intel version,  what is the best AMD Cpu it can run ? Turion 2 Ultra ?
They still ask around the 20-50 euros for those Turions
Very happy with this mod!!! , i will test it asap and let you know!! cheers
