Intel Matrix Storage Manager Option ROM for Shuttle SX48P2-Deluxe
#1
I would like to request that the latest bios out SX48S10S for this shuttle have the intel option rom upgraded from version 7.6 to version 8.5 or higher, so it can support SSD and be a lot more stable than on version 7.x in RAID mode. Whatever the latest and is able to support the current chipset would be nice. the current rom on 7.6 is so out of date it has problems with the newer hard disks and as the bios has not been updated since 2008 (shuttle latest bios dated 2010 is really 2008) the bios is stable but the intel rom could do with an update

link to shuttle download page for that model

thanks in advance

3 options! Your board has ICH9.

Option 1:
-Intel Matrix RAID 9.6 ICH10 (but works with some ICH9 boards)
-JMicron JMB368 1.08.01
-Marvell Yukon 4364 PXE 6.60.2.3

Option 2, if JMicron works but Intel Matrix RAID doesn't:
-Intel Matrix RAID 8.7 ICH9
-JMicron JMB368 1.08.01
-Marvell Yukon 4364 PXE 6.60.2.3

Option 3, if Intel 8.7 works but JMicron doesn't:
-Intel Matrix RAID 8.7 ICH9
-Marvell Yukon 4364 PXE 6.60.2.3

I have a feeling that the JMicron 1.08.01 ROM might need some "tweaking" to make it work because CBROM did not detect it as a replacement for your stock ROM even though the vendor and device IDs are the same. CBROM is usually good about that, so I'm not sure at the moment what's up. But I would give it a try anyway.

Feel free to use/link/host any BIOS I post, no credit necessary. However, this is at your own risk and I take no responsibility. Always keep a backup of a known-good BIOS. Don't flash a motherboard if you don't have a backup computer just in case.

Always use RAID mode. RAIDFix

I have flashed option 2 and so far everything seems to be working, i only have a RAID1 and a dvd writer and all three devices are being detected and appear to be working fine. I have seen a massive increase in speed and stability seems fair (still early days), SSDs seem to be working too which is great.

What are the implications of going option 1 (unsure about the advantages of a 8.7 > 9.6 upgrade), if the ich9 raid fails i assume i can still fall back to a previous rom and have my raid config?

Thanks once again this custom rom is exactly what i was looking for.

If the RAID with option 1 doesn't work, you simply won't be able to boot in RAID mode. The system will work otherwise. So make sure that you can flash back to option 2 without requiring RAID (if your BIOS has a built in flasher, make sure to put both files on your flash drive, or else burn a CD or prepare a USB drive to do it).

If you could confirm that the JMicron 1.08.01 OROM works (or does not work), I would appreciate it. I don't know if you're using it but if you could plug something into it to give it a quick try, it would be helpful. I think the JMB368 is IDE only.

Just done a few more tests

Option 1:
RAID is not operational
Jmicron does work.

Option 2:
RAID operational
JMicron does not work

Option 3:
RAID operational
Jmicron does work.
