Whitelist Removal for HP Pavilion dv6 6b56eg
#1
Hi everyone,

i've read a few posts and was wondering if you could mod a BIOS for me.
I was trying to run an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200(622ANHMW) in a rather newish HP Notebook with a stupid Broadcom 4313 without 5Ghz support.
The problem is a new survailance camera in the store beneath our flat which completly interfers with the 2,4 Ghz frequencies Undecided

Hardware-IDs of the current WLAN card:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_145C103&REV_01
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_145C103
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&CC_028000

Latest "German" BIOS update from HP: sp54846.exe

I know that there could be problems with semibrick and locking the BIOS, but the BIOS battery can be accesed without unscrewing even one [censored] so i take the risk =)

Am i losing anything besided my updatet BIOS and the configuration when i remove the battery and flash into the factory default BIOS?

If you need anything else please feel free to ask, im dying to get this to work.

!Thanks in advance!

lol, "s crew" is censored Wink

You might just close this thread!

I took this version from camiloml:

http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP...ht=sp54846

And it seems to be working!

Started fine with new Intel WLAN card, driver has yet to be installed but i dont see a problem there.

Thank you!

Now the driver is installed and it connected to a 5 Ghz Network without a problem =)

I can confirm the above mentioned BIOS mod !

Thank you camiloml !

OK. Just replying to myself !!!!
Downloaded the modded bios's from here (sp54846 and v2)
flashed etc and worked very well.
inserted new wifi card (that was previously excluded by bios)
and it worked very well. So ... looked good until ....
Booted in apple osx mountain lion. All was well.
When I exited osx mountain lion ... BOOM. Mountain lion MUST write to nvr
because on exit (every time). The reboot fails and the message is ...
'The cmos checksum is invalid'.
to correct that, I have to remove nvr battery.
If it were not for that, this mod would have been spot on for me.
I'll throw this out there if anyone could have a look it would be most appreciated.
Or ... is there a change I could make within mountain lion.???

Thanks for reading.Shy

OK. Very good news.
Where I was with my HP DV6 (to recap) ...
Downloaded whitelist bios. Updated. Worked except when exiting Mac OSX Mountain Lion where would give a cmos checksum error.
Alot of reading for the past day (and night (literally).
I have a fix. I've kext installed an ElliotForceLegacyRTC kext and hey presto.
The cmos is nolonger reset.

I'm going to run this for a couple of days with a n other wifi card and see how it goes and I will update this thread with results.

If all works well I will be a very happy bunny and my donation with be assured.

right. am gone. Big Grin

Excellent.
I've just sent my money donation to this site for the brilliant work that you do.
I'm not making a big deal of sending a money donation, I'm highlighting the fact because
I don't ususally do it ... but in this case it is easily worth it.
Am typing from my hackintosh as we speak. With built in wifi. BOOM !!!

Excellent and .... Thankyou thankyou thankyou.
