[Help] Bios Dump Toshiba Satellite L870 or similary
#1
Hi everybody,
I would like to know if anyone has a direct dump file from a TOSHIBA Satellite of series C8XX/L8XX to put directly in my notebook ?
Here's the story :

Some bad guys from work put a Bios master password in my Toshiba satellite L870 notebook.
I have all the invoices that can prove it's mine, and already asked on another community forum (less specialized, no answer, though )
Since I like to test things, I bought a bus pirate and a pomona SOIC Clip to dump the actual file of the chip.
The chip is a W25Q16BVSIG and the Dump is posted here its weight is around 2 MB (200000 offset in hex)

I downloaded from Toshiba the original Flash update that weights around 4MB
When comparing the two files, the near 75% is of the same composition, then I think that the Toshiba original file contains instructions for the controller to update the Bios.
The problem is that I'm not an expert at this, and even if I tried some modifications onto my dumped file, it only bricks the notebook. (Recoverable to original state, thanks to my bus pirate)
I have checked some of the Flash unlocked bios here on the forum that shares a lot of similarity with mine (so C850 and alike can work)

I have also a W25Q32 chip on the motherboard that has some strange instructions in it, but I do not think it has to do with my bios directly, see dump here

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Chakiral

To clarify what I tested before :
I've ran nearly every post about removing a password on a toshiba laptop, no keys combination did work (FN + Esc, Win + B, Ctrl + Esc etc etc etc)
No master guess password when the laptop is going to shutdown, nothing...
That's why I'm going onto the bus pirate thing.

I found some interesting things in http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Re...L875D-7210 and the W8 version of the firmware looks pretty the same (at the beginning) of my W25Q32 chip. (weird fact, the bus pirate is not able to detect that chip by itself...) so I will test this version...

If any Bios guru can take a look of the Bios files and help me have the correct one... I'll find a way to reward !
Best regards,
Chakiral

Hi firend,
if You can read yours Eeprom Chips then I will rebuild your FULL DUMP Firmware
replacing the Bios Region with a Virgin One !
So You don't need them as You can get from your laptop !
If yours are broken then will be an issue !
