#11
Wait the bios request for the HP dv5-1090 was for another laptop. This Acer Aspire 751h its from my girl.

They are for separate machines... nothing to do with each other.

Yes , my previous post was abvout eh ACer Aspire one. Basically it has 2 SLICs in the 1 bios , an Acer 2.0 and an Acer 2.1

The preinstalled operating system determines what slic is used.

Please cna you download this and run it on the acer. Then post all 4 screenshots for us to help!

Oh , and the RW Report i requested will be very helpful too!

Here are the files

If you need something else let me know...
This netbook came preinstalled with windows vista home basic edition.

This netbook has installed the 7loader and windows 7 ultimate, don't askme... i didn't put it there. However the 2 slics present on the original BIOS from Acer are kinda weird indeed... maybe cos this is a netbook made or manufactured on 2009... they maybe put both slics in order to install vista or win7... If you can make that util will be great! Im gonna remove the loader in order to test the utility Big Grin

Right well your all good to go! Shouldnt ahve to do anything as theres a completel HP 2.1 SLIC Table in your bios

Uninstall the loader , then rescan with the tool and post 4 more screenshots (AFTER REMOVING THE LOADER = THIIS IS IMPORTANT!)

If it still all green , just follow the instructions i posted to install the hp oem certificate , then install any Ultimate oem slp key (doesnt have to be a HP key) and it should activate!

Good Luck!

Tell me something please...

The fisrt BIOS posted at the begining if this thread contains both SLICs also? or is just this new version 3211 ??

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well afer put in the cert and key i can't activate win7... seems the slic 2.1 is not dominant... the win activator process only see slic 2.0

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH THIS - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/747181/Acer%20As...Editor.zip

you can use it to change the asset strings & flags

0 = No OS
1 = Vista
2 = Windows 7

Set it on 2 and the SLIC 2.1 should be dominant (As your laptop came with Vista , the option is currentlys et on 1 , hence why the SLIC 2.0 is detected over the 2.1)

Regards , READ THE README!

I don't understand... whats the flag or parameter that dmi recognices in order to change dominance? that means... where should i put the "2" parameter???

This is the readme...

Quote:Command:
Usage : DMI [/R] [/W] [/F] [/WM] [/WP] [/WV] [/WS] [/WU] [/?:H] [Write data]
[/R] : Read DMI string from BIOS"
[/F] : Read DMI string from BIOS to DMIINFO.TXT file.
[/W] : write DMI string to BIOS follow DMIINFO.TXT.
: If no DMIINFO.TXT file then key in yourself.
[/WM] [Manufacturer string] : write Manufacturer string to BIOS.
[/WP] [Product string] : write Product string to BIOS.
[/WV] [Version string] : write Version string to BIOS.
[/WS] [Serial Number] : write Serial Number to BIOS.
[/WU] [UUID] : write UUID to BIOS(only 32 digital(Hexdecimal) number)
[/?:H] : show usage information

What is the command that allowme to set the dominance?

Thank you very much in advance! Big Grin

Right , let me do some research before you do anything!

Right , because this DMI editors different to others ive used for other manufacturers , heres a general 2.1 slic mod , ive removed the existing 2.0 slic so this just has slic 2.1 which is backward compatible with Vista anyway!

If for some reason this doesnt work , i will require new screenshots to help me pinpoint where the mod isnt working!

Here you go , i used Acer 2.1 SLIC + Certificate Included:-

1. Copy and paste ******.XRM-MS certificate file into C-Drive.

2. After pasting this file into C-Drive, go to START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - COMMAND PROMPT. Right click on Command Prompt and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

3. When Command Prompt opens, type at the prompt: slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\********.xrm-ms and hit the Enter Button. Wait for the Script Host to answer you with a message that the license was installed successfully....this could take a few minutes and so be patient.

4. After receiving the message that the license was installed successfully, type at the command prompt:

slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-***** (Replace with any OEM SLP Product Key for your installed version of Windows 7 , they are not hard to find).Be Patient and wait for the message to say that the Product Key was sucessfully installed. After it says successfully installed, reboot the computer.

5. When you are back at your desktop, go to START - COMPUTER - right click on Computer and choose PROPERTIES and see if it is activated with an OEM product ID.
