Try this one :

http://rghost.net/8r9gPkHNb

Recovery Procedure :

Format an USB Stick to Fat32 filesystem then copy the recovery Bios file .bin into and then
continue with this . . .

- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out), then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

The bios should be updated with the modified BIOS, and boot as per normal.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the guide. I kept on trying but couldn't get the BIOS updated.

However, I have another laptop, again, a Lenovo G580 (20157) with BIOS revision 62CN34WW. With such an old BIOS I think there won't be a problem rewriting it. The only thing is that I want to update that BIOS to the latest version (62CN97WW) because I want to upgrade the CPU to an Intel Core i7-3612QM. Can you help me update the BIOS and still maintain the whitelist removed?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Here is the information about the laptop:

-Model: Lenovo G580 (20157)
-BIOS Revision: 62CN34WW
-BIOS Backup 1: https://www.sendspace.com/file/frrchg (results.rar)
-BIOS Backup 2: https://www.sendspace.com/file/cri2gl (Universal BIOS Backup)

I'd like to get my BIOS to version 62CN97WW, with removed whitelist. Here is the link to the latest BIOS version: http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobi...7ww_64.exe

Thanks a lot! Will surely donate! Big Grin

P.S. for 62CN97WW install new Bios and do new Bios result file !

But if I'll update to 62CN97WW won't I get the EEPROM chip locked? That is what happened to my other G580 laptop and I can't downgrade the bios to a lower version.

Then It's not possible to make a Flash without SPI Programmer !
I could replace Bios Region into your 62CN34WW Bios Backup
replacing Laptop Own Data, but It would be disaligned with EC Code
and We can risk a Brick !

.bin   BIOS.bin (Size: 4 KB / Downloads: 6)

Ok, the components are in. After an adventure in cracking the laptop case open (I hope I can put it back together again!) I clamped down (what I think is) the BIOS chip and read some stuff off it. It's kindof small at 4KB... Have I read the correct thing? Last BIOS upload was ~4MB so I'm not sure I selected the correct chip/manufacturer/type in the software... How do I find my exact chip?

Your Eeprom Chip is :

--- Flash Devices Found ---
EN25Q64 ID:0x1C3017 Size: 8192KB (65536Kb)

So You have to get an 8192 KB file and your is the half = 4096 KB !
And . . . is empty as all bytes are 0xFFh null !
You have not read It Sad
