Asus Rampage III Extreme ZioMod Bios (Latest: 1601_S17)
(07-17-2012, 05:48 PM)sinders Wrote: Have anybody else tried the the latest 11.5 Intel OROM and 11.5
series drivers on our board with two SSDs in RAID0?

The reason why I am asking is because I would like to know if
there's anybody else finding the 11.5 series Intel OROM and
drivers very unstable and slow on our board when in RAID0.

I am not sure what the 11.5 series are like on our
board when using a single SSD Drive.

Sinders did you tried the latest Intel Bios OROM v11.5.0.1414 and alongside latest RST Driver Version v11.5.0.1184 while on raid0 ? Or if you want i can test it for you
, But if you have already tried and fin it very bad performance then its possible our older chispset x58 problem Sad , i will like to her some feedback to on Single SSD using that combination of OROM and RST Driver. Thank you for all the hard work and testing , apretiate it.

Yes I tried it with the latest 11.5 OROM and RSTe Driver.

It would be great if you could quickly test the latest 11.5 OROM and RSTe Drivers with your SSD RAID0 setup on Windows 7 and tell me if you
find the 11.5 series OROM and RSTe Drivers slow, get very low scores when benchmarking and etc and feel there's something not quite right with
these on our board like I have experienced.

If you experience is the same, then the 11.5 OROM and RSTe Drivers ether don`t like our chipset x58 or it might even be a RAID problem with the
11.5 series and the x58 chipset or they just don`t like our board, the Asus Rampage III Extreme.

If you do decide to test the 11.5 series with SSD RAID0, I would recommend you doing a Full Image Backup like I do of your windows install, that
way you can restore back to the way you had it before without problems.

Ok Sinders here i go For my testing using ROM 11.5.01414 and RST v11.5.0.1184, right now i am using the moded Bios done by ZioGTS for Asus R3E x58 Asus Rampage III Extreme 1601_S02 ZioMod , using ATTO and AS SSD benchmarks on Intel x58 ICHR10 Sata 2 Raid0 128k stripe size. for references i will re-run it again now before i clone this drive , i will be testing using w7 x64bit for 1 week doing heavy benchmarks to see if it is working properly and if maybe Trim works in w7 x64bit or if i get at least a speed boost using windows 7 , Sorry i hate w8 so no testing will be done on w8 as i will not use it anyways. Give me a few hours for back up , cloning and flash Bios Raid OROM 11.5 , Clean Erase the drives and a fresh new intall of w7x64 bit Raid0 i will post ATTO and AS SSD after im done so that we can compare before and after.

This speeds on my Raid0 using 1601_S02 ZioMod IntelĀ® ICH10R SATA RAID Controller: v11.2.0.1527 and Intel RST software v11.2.0.1006 , 2x Samsung 830 128GB using 128k Stripe size

Thanks a lot chispy. It will be good to here your experience with the 11.5 series in configuration with
SSD RAID0 and if you also find them too a lot slower than the normal OROMs and RST Drivers we use.

What stripe size is that your using for your RAID configuration? You do know it is recommended the
most to use a stripe size of 128 k for RAID and a SSD alignment of 1024 k for best performance.

Glad to help out a little Smile , yes im already using 128k Stripe size and 1024k alignment Wink. Will post back results in a few hours.

Remember to make sure you have Write-back cache enabled for your RAID configuration within
the windows Intel Rapid Storage Technology manager that gets installed when you install the
normal RST Drivers and the 11.5 series before doing the final benchmark tests.

Without Write-back cache enabled, your SSD performance in RAID will be a bit slower.

Findings: Bios Raid ROM 11.5.0.1414 its faster than Bios Raid ROM 11.2 even with RST Driver 11.2.0.1006 as shown in the bench tests AS SSD and ATTO. It wont let me update to Intel Driver RST 11.5 , the system says it's using the latest driver and it's up to date. I will now re-install w7 x64bit installling RST Driver pressing f6 during w7x64 fresh installation and i will report back in a few hours.

I haven't actually tried the 11.5 OROMs with the normal RST Drivers because according to everywhere, the 11.5 OROMs and RSTe 11.5 Drivers are meant to go together.

If the problems start happening when you install the 11.5 RSTe Drivers then it must be them that don't work properly on our board not the OROMs.
