See my A8JS post in this forum for a tutorial that would be very helpful in doing this mod! 
The A8JR is a nice laptop with a very weak graphics card - one significant issue being the poor Linux support of ATI cards.
I'm putting this thread up now so it is found by the search engines prior to me applying this MOD.
I have ordered another 9650M GT, and will post here once I get it installed and working on the A8JR

ASUS A8JR : 3GB Ram, Nvidia 9650M GT 1GB Graphics (upgraded from 512MB Go7700 with custom BIOS). T7200CPU (with faster FSB and clock) - plug&play!
Apple Macbook Pro - top spec as of Mid 2012 - used it for a while, back to my ASUS as it as so much more flexible and usable!![/color]
