It wouldn't post at all. I used a Tutorial I found and added the microcodes myself.

Hi ,
I owe an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard and have flashed it to the latest available BIOS. Recently i tried a q9550 E0 revision on the motherboard, but it doesn't support the processor. I tried flashing the older bios as well, but it didn't help. After trying a lot, i manage to boot my system.

But the booting occurs after 10-15 power cycle, incase of failure the POST code as shown on the motherboard appears as 87.

I did some reseach and found that the error code is mainly due to the unsupported processor and motherboard.

Is it possible to add the microcode of Q9550 E0 revision, to my motherboard BIOS? Will it solve my problem?

Here is the link of the BIOS that i am using currently

I have no idea where to look for the microcode of Q9550 E0 revision, but here is its official page. Please note that compatibility of processor varies with revision E0 / C0

Hi,

I have used the Official Abit v18 (Latest BIOS With E0 Stepping CPU Added) - Thanks to the kind soul who managed to grab the entire FTP contents and host a mirror of it before Abit went down!

I compared the CPU Microcodes from the latest BIOS for the Abit X38 Quad GT which officially supports the Q9550 CPU. However they both appear to have IDENTICAL microcodes!

Here is the Official version of the v18 BIOS with E0 Stepping CPU Support added straight from Abit. Try this first Smile

Hello,

I bought an Abit IP 35 Pro because it seems to be one of the latest board which supports two floppies A and B from 360K to 2.88 MB.
Unfortunately, in the last BIOS revisions the support for drive B: was removed, which is the most important function for me.
The last version with Dual Floppy support was Revision 14.

I don't have a Windows system, but I used Modbin 6 version 2.01.02 using the DOSBox Frontend Boxer on a Mac. I had two windows running at the same time, so I could compare the versions 14 and 17. In version 14 the BIOS Information screen looked is distorted, see the screenshots. In a hex editor I noticed that the two extracted ORIGINAL.BIN files of version 14 and 17 had errors. In the text which should be Phoenix Technologies were several non-ASCII characters, both revisions on different places. So I guess the files are faulty. If this is a problem related to DOSBox I can't say.

So I still have to ask if anyone create a updated BIOS which allows two floppies and support for Xeon Quadcores.
I'm planning to use the Low Power versions Xeon L5420 (2.5 GHz, 50W TDP) or L5430 (2.66 GHz, 50W TDP).
The codename is Harpertown with the CPUID's 10674, 10676 and 1067A. It seems Yorkfield is using the same ID's.

I've attached the BIOS version 14 which is still supporting two floppies. Here are more infos.
Please change the creation date to the actual date in 2026 and use the revision DF for 'Dual Floppy'.

Greets, naquaada.
