Acer Aspire 5532 nvram enabling PowerNow
#1
Hi there, I need some help.
I have got a laptop, Acer Aspire 5532 with an amd athlon x2 dual core l310. The bios is an InsydeH2O, a lil basic BIOS.
The cpu works at 1200mhz fixed all the time and recently got Debian 10.3 installed and got these error:

powernow_k8: firmware bug: no compatible acpi _pss objects found.
firmware bug: first, make sure cool'n'quiet is enabled in the bios.
firmware bug: if it doesnt help,  try upgrading your bios.

The laptop already has the latest bios however the cool'n'quiet also known as powernow is not available.
i'm wondering if the bios can be moded to make this cool'n'quiet option available or by modding the nvram to enable it permanently.
The laptop has version 1.11 and latest is 1.11 from acer support site.
I'm trying to see if i can get some tool to check if powernow is enabled or not.
I tried on windows, unplugging the power plug and slide left the slider when you click the battery icon near clock but task manager still says 1200mhz.
Aida64 says multiplier can go from 4x-6x but its always on 6x. I cant seem to find cool'n'quiet or powernow listed in cpuid or cpu.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

I had some help along the way, this was as far as I ever got...

acer 5517, 5532 and emachines e627 (and some other models) are all using the same board.
