Acer Aspire E380 R01-C0 With Unlocked Overclocking Options

yeah I just want to confirm what RAID rom you want from which image. (And or GPU/LAN)

i think the RAID rom from the original image will do.. you can't select seperate sata-channels to be on or off, but at least you can configure all drives to be in raid or in case of a single disk, you can make it a JBOD-raid.. no further modification is required.

Thanks for your time and efforts ;-)

So I did the mod, using an additional /f command in the initial command line, as it wouldn't work without it.

Imediately my CPU fan took off like a 747. I made all the suggested immediate adjustments in the BIOS, but they wouldn't seem to save. After some fiddling about, I discovered that if I set one parameter at a time in the BIOS and hit f10, saved and reboot, the settings would save.

Even so, the problem I keep having is that my DRAM voltage doesn't seem to set to 1.9v. I set it to 1.9 in the bios, and also enabled the maxmemchk to ddr2 800 in the dram configuration window...

But Speccy and CPU-ID still show my voltage as 1.8, even though the bios is reading as 1.9. I really just want to set it do 1.9v because a forum poster at Newegg said this particular memory (G. Skill 800/pc6400) had to be set at 1.9v for dual channel. In fact, Speccy lists the memory as "dual", even though the voltage is 1.8.

so my question is twofold (thanks for bearing with me): do I need 1.9v for this memory (g.skill 2x1gig, 2gbnq), is speccy mis-reading my system, or is everything fine and dandy since it's reading as dual-channel memory? I guess that's 3 questions, but there you go. Thanks!

p.s. System is an Acer e-380, Athlon II 6000+, 3 gigs g. skill ddr2 800 pc6400, latest bios, 380watts, etc.

Pretty sure your good because I am also using theGSKILL 1.8-1.9v RAM and it works fine. They really shouldn't need 1.9 anyways "P

This is for Silka, the new ABIT BIOS with the RAID rom from the original BIOS.

I just used your mod bios to unlock my E380 with a Athlon 64 X2 4400+ CPU. I noticed two rather odd things and was hoping someone has run into this and has some different settings I can try.

Problem 1: I lost some performance on various benchmarks using the same hardware. I lost somewhere between 500 and 1000 points off of the 3dmark06 benchmark (I didn't write down the exact numbers) but I have over clocked it a fair amount just to get back to the level I was at before changing the bios. Could this be a memory issue? I just left the DDR setting on Auto. [UPDATE] The windows experience rating actually improved significantly. The problem seems to be specifically tied to fps in 3d graphics. The memory does not seem to be an issue, but I did change it to maxmem and seemed to get better utilization there. [SOLVED] I simply needed to increase the buffer size on the bios or set the onboard GPU to enabled along with the PCIe card. I did both but one of them, resolved the issue.

Problem 2: Now when I run either CPU-Z or Speccy my audio starts having static in it. The static goes away when I reboot, but comes right back when I run CPU-Z or Speccy again. I have re-installed both the video drivers and the audio drivers.

I have been looking at various CPU upgrades, and it sounds like I should stick with the 65W processors, but I was wondering if there were any plans (if it is even possible) to unlock cores using this bios. For example this chip comes in 65W (I think) and could be a quad core with the other cores turned back on http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5774823&csid=ITD&body=MAIN#detailspecs

First post, sorry if this has been covered, but I tried to read all the threads pertinent to this mb.

I don't think unlocking hidden cores is possible on this board.

On the other hand...
ECS has this unusual Geforce 6150SE/nForce 430-based board, the MCP61M-M3 (V7.1):

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1139&CategoryID=1&MenuID=19&LanID=0

It claims to be able to unlock Phenom IIs despite not having the previously-required ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) feature found in SB710/750/850 southbridges and nForce 7xx chipsets.

Still, it's possible that enabling such functionality required a few hardware changes, as the BIOS is not the same as the previous revision of this board, MCP61M-M3 (V2.0).

Finally, this board uses an AMI BIOS.

We were going to start a testing crew for those willing to test that ECS BIOS on their boards, so there's that. Actually though the ABIT BIOS is Award, so you are switching platforms Smile

Glad you figured out the speed issues, also make sure PMU is enabled for fan cooling. I also have not been able to resolve the static with this BIOS, I think its ACPI related. Then again, small price to pay for all the features.
