Acer Aspire x3900 i7-870 support
#1
I bought on aliexpress an i7-870 to replace the i3 530 on my Acer x3900. The system does not boot with the new CPU. The fan starts to spin and stops and begin a cycle without post or any beeps. I believe that it's supported with current bios , how can I confirm if it's supported and the cpu is not defective ? The sytem has an nvidia gt 210, so is not a question of integrated graphics. I've rubbered the cpu to clean it but it didn't help. I downloaded the bios from https://driverscollection.com/_430299432...01.B1-free

I didn't have a MEI driver installed and I could not locate any specific for my computer. I found an old me driver compatible with my chipset. I Don't know if helps

1. Download ME 6 5MB DT v6.2.61.3535.rar, extract 6.2.61.3535_5MB_DT_PRD_UPD.bin and rename it to me.bin
2. Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus), copy Intel ME System Tools v6 IBX\FWUpdate\DOS\FWUpdLcl.exe and me.bin there.
3. Boot within created USB-stick, run in the command line and make a photo of results:
FWUpdLcl me.bin
4. Don't reboot but power off your system and disconnect power cord for few minutes.
5. Boot, enter in BIOS, do Load Defaults, save and exit.
6. Make new results of MEInfo

It throws an error:

Error 8719: Firmware update cannot be initiated because Local Firmware update is disabled

Show a photo of results.
And try to find all jumpers on your motherboard.

I discovered a screen after bios post using control + P.  Inside i could enable the fw local update and perform the ime update.

Should i test now ? I am running out of thermal paste after several tests ?
