Asrock AOD790GX/128M SLIC 2.1
#1
Hello everyone, any chance I can get SLIC 2.1 for HP added to this rom?
The manufacturers link to this bios is an executable file that automatically launches the winflash utility and gives no chance to stop the flash or extract the ROM file.
DOS version has the same affect.

I had to download Amiflash from AMI and save the v1.70 ROM to a file then posted it to a personal site.

Manufacturer: ASROCK
MotherBoard Model: AOD790GX/128M
Bios Version: 1.70
Bios Type: AMI

https://sites.google.com/site/janzaldi/home/files/AOD790GX128M%281.70%29.zip?attredirects=0&d=1

If you need it here is the link to Asrock's DOS version of the ROM.
ftp://174.142.97.10/bios/AM2+/AOD790GX128M(1.70)DOS.zip

Just a note, there are some modded V1.50 ROMs already out on the web but earlier versions of this BIOS had some random MAC address problems I wanted to avoid.

Thanks in advance

Many thanks for backing up the ROM - as you said , there was no way in which i could extract the rom out of the Asrock DOS version!

Here you go , i used HP 2.1 SLIC + Certificate Included:-

1. Copy and paste ******.XRM-MS certificate file into C-Drive.

2. After pasting this file into C-Drive, go to START - ALL PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - COMMAND PROMPT. Right click on Command Prompt and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

3. When Command Prompt opens, type at the prompt: slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\********.xrm-ms and hit the Enter Button. Wait for the Script Host to answer you with a message that the license was installed successfully....this could take a few minutes and so be patient.

4. After receiving the message that the license was installed successfully, type at the command prompt: slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-***** (Replace with any OEM SLP Product Key for your installed version of Windows 7 , they are not hard to find).Be Patient and wait for the message to say that the Product Key was sucessfully installed. After it says successfully installed, reboot the computer.

5. When you are back at your desktop, go to START - COMPUTER - right click on Computer and choose PROPERTIES and see if it is activated with an OEM product ID.

Wow, very fast, thanks.

Just a question first, I will have to use the flash utility from AMI, probably afuwinx64.exe as I have no working floppy drive and Asrock does not provide one without the included rom.

Are you aware of any options that have to be selected in the utility for a successful flash?
After some good advice I will try the flash at my own risk and report back the results.

Also a note for Asrock owners.
I have tried to research a BIOS flash recovery method for Asrock Mainboards in the case of something going wrong.

There are none, Asrock removed them all to save room, probably so they could add more fancy boot up screens.
They removed recovery via floppy, usb and cd-rom which AMI 8x comes with.

That seems pretty lame, they could have atleast added a dual bios for recovery like other OEM's.
The only recovery option I have seen is people are having to contact Asrock to buy a new BIOS chip.

So if any one has other information about Asrock recovery and would like to correct me please post here.

Sorry to seem like a pain, I am just trying to cover all options before proceeding.

Thanks again to 1234s282

You can a bootable DOS USB stick to flash the bios. Flashing from DOS is less risky than flashing from within Windows

Thanks for getting me thinking about a bootable USB stick, it took almost 30 seconds to make it bootable following this link.
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

The flash went great and is working well, now I can dump rc7100.

So to confirm the mod, I have attached a screen cap from Everest showing the ACPI section.

Oh, I think someone forgot to put in the cert file in the archive, but that is ok.
I grabbed it out of another mod on here.

Thank you again.

I do plan on purchasing a legit copy once I get an income back, this will get me by till then.

I make sure to donate, you guys are great.
