Asus GL55JX RoG logo replace
#1
Hi guys, i have an Asus GL552JX notebook, in early versioned BIOSes for this notebook (203 was the last) we have a Republic of Gamers logo as splash picture after 203 this logo was replaced by Asus to a generic ASUS logo. I want the new BIOS but if i like the RoG picutre, so i wanted to extract the "old" picture from v203 and replace the one in v207 with them. I tried with UEFI tool and AMI image replacer tool, but every time i tried to flash my modified file, i got "BIOS file is invalid" message i have tried the Asus's WinFlash utility and EasyFlash from BIOS also.

I will be really appreciated, if someone can tell me what i did wrong, or if someone can make me a v207 file with replaced splash image. (picture and original unmodified v207 BIOS file is attached)

After a few PM's with genius239 we figured out how to do it.

My first mistake was that, i tried to modified the original file given by Asus. DO NOT TRY IT EVER... it will fail. Instead, flash the file with Asus's WinFlash utility, then after a reboot, read it back with Ami afuwin tool (either GUI or cmd version, i've tried both ways).

Then we are able to safely modify the recently saved file. So do it with UEFITool. Here i have another roadblock, every tutorial mentions the module in address 7BB28B99-61BB-11D5-9A5D-0090273FC14D but if i replaced that, nothing has changed, i got back the old splash image at boot. So i started digging and figured out, another module contains the same image, this module is at 51E778F1-0C9A-48CC-A357-B12055FDFF4F.

After replacing both modules, i was able to flash the modified file with afuwin. I've flashed just the Main BIOS block. After a reboot i've got back my lovely RoG logo.

I hope i can help someone struggling with problems like these.

If someone want my modified file, i attached it here, follow the flash instructions i mentioned at the end of my post.
