Asus K8v-MX Socket 754 Bios
#1
Hi all,

Recently I have been trying to unlock this bios file for an older motherboard that I use for a retro gaming rig.  It is an Asus K8V-MX it works great however for some games it is too fast and I would like to be able to adjust the CPU multiplier and turn it down to slow down the CPU.  I tried numerous tools AMIBCP and others to try and find the setting and I am at a loss.  If anyone can point me in the right direction or unlock the feature for me or even tell me if it is possible at all I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hello.
Hidden settings like CPU multiplier may not work at all. I added AMD Overclocking menu nevertheless. Install my mod if you really want to slow down the CPU. I take no responsibility for further system instability. I am able to unlock settings, not test them.

Thanks so much! I will give it a try. May I ask what you used to change these settings? Everything I tried seemed to have issues reading these bios files. I did get Amibcp v3 to open it but did not see any hidden settings. The stock bios did have some overclocking options but could not slow the cpu down. Thanks again for taking to time to do this!

MMTool + hex editor. Generally, it is possible to unlock only the settings listed in AMIBCP strings tab.

Hi Wasaab, which version of the BIOS did you choose to request the MOD? I want to give it a try, but my CPU has a Venice core, so I can’t use older BIOS versions...

It is 204, as the number in the filename.

Asus use 4 digit for the BIOS version. 0112, 0203, 0211 and 0501 are the bios files available
