Asus P5GC-TVM/S pentium 5400
#1
Good morning, I write to request help regarding a motherboard that I have an Asus P5GC-TVM / S I managed to get an Intel Pentium 5400 processor to update an old Intel E1240 that the computer has, the new processor starts and works by starting the operating system, but An error message appears on the BIOS screen and the 2.7 ghz processor speed is cut in half, the motherboard is not officially supported by the manufacturer, so there is no way to get a BIOS update.

I have attached the original BIOS file for the motherboard.

Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with your Pentium E5400.

It also includes the error message from the BIOS screen, additionally there is another oddity and that is that the pc does not turn off, you really have to disconnect the power cable.

Do Load Defaults in BIOS, save and reboot.
Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus), download and unzip all files for the modded version of CHECKUP7 to this DOS USB-stick.
Boot from this DOS USB-stick and make a photo of the screen with results.

The following error message appears:

Database file being used is PEP.DAT

Did you used Rufus to boot in DOS?

Yes Rufus 3.9, to create FreeDos and in a separate folder on the pendrive, put the program files unzipped and run them.

Download the version of Rufus from the most up-to-date official website and try another pendrive but it still gives the same error message. Is there no other way to update the board's microcodes?

After several years of failed attempts and dead ends I managed to do it, and if my hypothesis is correct it should work on all motherboards with the following serial number composition:

P5LD2-TVM
P5LD2-TVM SE/S
P5LD2-TVM SE
P5LD2-TVM/S
P5GC-TMV
P5GC-TVM/S
P5GC-TVM SE/S
P5GC-TVM-BP

They are the same motherboard that has several rebrandings due to orders made by different companies over the years (MAXDATA, HAIER, INSPUR, ETC.) in China and various parts of the world to ASUS, but with minimal differences between them, extra components that some have and others do not, such as 7.1 channel audio outputs and capacitors soldered in places that are empty in other models or the use of solid capacitors. It can really be said that they are not models but versions of the same model and the real name of the same is ASUS M5000, which was ordered by the company Altrum. By pure luck I managed to get the real name of the model and the company that ordered it along with official ASUS support.

https://www.asus.com/es/supportonly/m500...knowledge/

ASUS M5000 is (P5GC-TVM).

The procedure to update the BIOS and flash it is the following: You must download the latest version of the BIOS from the ASUS website, which is version 0801, and invoke AFUDOS using MS-DOS with the following command:

AFUDOS BIOS.ROM /P /B /N /C /E /K /L0 /X

I can confirm that it works perfectly with my P5GC-TVM/S motherboard.
