Does anyone know, how they make a ROM-file of this package? I tried but it seems only to create the right way when it sees the right HW-ID...

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

Sorry to bump a thead with only more questions instead of answers, but this looks exactly like issue I'm having, and I wondered if there'd been any progress.

I won't repeat my tedious memory problems in their entirety (it's all detailed in this thread should anyone care), but the short story is, my BIOS appears not to have an option for memory remapping, and I suspect this is the reason for my 4.00 GB of RAM not being used to the full.

Also, despite previously describing my BIOS as being 'Award Software version 10Q', according to my computer's registry it's actually 'Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG', but there's no suffix like 'v3.17' or anything as mentioned as in the title of this thread.

So, what I really wanted to know is, would any of the different versions of BIOS linked to in this thread also work for me, or would I need a specific update for my motherboard (Gigabyte (Fujitsu-Siemens) GA-8I915PM Revision 2.0)?

And would anyone happen to know for certain whether a memory remapping option is actually even hidden away in my BIOS anyway?

It could be due to memory remapping but remember if your not using a 64 bit operating system your computer can only use 3.25gb - ive also seen cases where the total amount of available memory is reduced due to onboard graphics - even when theres a 64 bit OS present eg. 4gb Total (3.87gb usable) appears in computer properties.

You are using 64 bit arent you? are you using integrated graphics? it may be that your board automatically reserves some memory for graphics or your graphics cards "shares" some memory with your computer

Thanks for the reply, but I didn't really want to hijack the thread by getting into my own problems in detail.

For what it's worth, I'm definitely using 64-bit Windows:

And as far as the integrated memory issue goes, as I mentioned in the other thread, when I installed 3 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB, all of it was usable, with no part of it as far as I could tell being 'reserved' for graphics cards or anything else, which makes me doubt that that is the issue.

But we love hijacking threads Tongue

I reccommend reading up on this article and seeing if you think its worth a shot.

That's interesting. My previous motherboard used Packard Bell 'Sunshine' BIOS, and given that the only real difference between that board and the one I'm using now is the BIOS itself, it may well be compatible.

The only thing is, I can't remember if the Sunshine BIOS had an option for memory remapping in the first place, as I never had cause to use it previously.
