Hi Zio,

I am a newbie to modded bioses and I have a couple of questions if I may.

-I'm still trying to understand how SLICs work. If I flash your bios into my R3E, will I have windows activation issues? I installed Win7 Pro from an oem disc with a valid license key. Will windows just stick with it's activation or look to the new slic?

-As for actually flashing the new bios, the only good method is using a bootable usb disk right? I'm assuming the EZflash tool in the bios will not work.

I know these are beginner questions, but after reading through the forums, I was getting myself a little confused and wanted to be sure I do this the right way. Also, thank you Zio and others for putting these together. I can't wait to see how the new oroms work out!

Useing EZ flash in the bios is the best and easiest way to do it. Just load the new modded bios you would any bios.

As for your activted copy of windows 7 I think you should be fine. The SLIC is for volume/oem licences. and I am sure the guys on this forum that will verify that. and I believe someone talked about it in this thread.

Slic won't cause any issue to original oem windows versions. You can use EZflash after putting ziomod bios file in a usb key or in a drive of your choice, provided it's recognized by your existing bios.

Thank you both for the responses. Can't wait to give it a try.

By the way, with the R3E having a dual bios setup, does flashing an update flash both bioses or only the one that is currently selected? I've always had it on Number 1, and wondered if it is been updated as I flash.

The only Bios that gets flashed is the one selected. they ahve to be updated seperately. this way there is always one bios that is "SAFE" incase of a bad flash.

Hello

I have 2 questions:

I installed the new bios from the 1st link and it works o.k. But what is "OROM modules from 1601_S04" file for?

And the other question is: Exacly which Marvell driver to install for x64 system. There are 2 maps when u unzip that file: "88SE92xx_miniport" and "88SE92xx_storport".

Does the "i386" map from the "88SE92xx_miniport" folder have the right driver?

And the device that needs this driver is "Marvell 91xx Config Device", right?

Thanks in advance.

You do not need the OROM's. those were providded incase you wanted to edit a bios and mae your own updated bios. but you are useing the updated bios, so there is no njeed for those. just ignore them. as for the drivers just install the latest Marvell drivers from Station Drivers. follow this link.

http://www.station-drivers.com/page/asus...extrem.htm

Also do not use the Marvell controller for a ssd or a boot drive. it is slower then the intel controller. it does not matter that the marvell controller is "SATAIII" it is connected thorugh a PCIe x1 lane and is very slow. i benchmarked my ssd on the marvell controller and the intel controller. and everyone that has also done that comes to the same conclusion. use the intel.

I hope this helps.

Well I have been useing my two 128gb OCZ vertex 4's in RAID 0 for just over a month now, and I have NO degridation in speed. Infact my score is slightly higher now then when I first set up my raid 0 setup. So I am convinced that TRIM is working with these 11.5 drivers and OROM. Thank you so much for provideing me with this modded bios!! Many thanks.

I use this raid 0 setup as my boot OS drive. It has steam and all of my games installed on it, and everything else I use day to day.
