Asus Rampage III Extreme ZioMod Bios (Latest: 1601_S17)
#61
(07-07-2012, 04:47 AM)idahosurge Wrote: Does anyone know for sure if the latest Marvell modules included in this latest 1601 BIOS along with the latest Marvell drivers will now actually transfer the trim command to an SSD when sent by Win7?

Has anyone benchmarked AS SSD on an SSD connected to the Marvel ports since updating to this latest 1601 BIOS to see if their score improved? Last summer I updated to a 1301 modified BIOS I got from xtremesystems.org and the AS SSD score was still so bad I moved my SSD back to my Intel ports.

Nobody knows for sure if Marvell passes trim command. Lots of people brought so called proof of both possibilities, but none was able to provide startling evidence.

Performance of my Samsung 830 increased slightly with latest firmware, if compared with previous Marvell firmware. I never tried putting my SSD on the Intel controller, so I can't provide any comparison.

First of all, Thanks a lot for that work, keeping the R3E bios updated

Did just download the modded bios -

What benchmarks do you recommend ? specially for ssd speed or any kind ? Will check/benchmark with my actual 096bios 1st and do some comparison with the 1601_S02_SLIC.ROM

The best popular windows tools that you should use to test your SSD Drives Read and Write performance is AS SSD Benchmark and ATTO Disk Benchmark.

Has anybody noticed if you disable the marvell controller within the BIOS, your Windows 7 becomes deactivated then you need to activate online again.

If you reinable the marvell controller again, your current Windows 7 activation now becomes valid again.

Hi Sinders, I am unable to reproduce the anomally you've mentioned above.

Both the 6G SATA and JMC e-sata controllers were disabled in the BIOS, rebooted and windows stays activated.

I'm using 1601_S02 ZioMod and WIN7x64 sp -1, fresh installed raid 0 onboard intel controllers.

Maybe because I originally activated Windows 7 when the marvell controller was enabled, disabling it causes
Windows 7 to think there has been a hardware change and therefore needs to be activated online again.

Thumbs Up
I would like to really thank you all of you guys specially ZioGTS for the great job done on the ZioMod 1601 S02 .
My R3E its on its last leg and im trying to keep it alive a while longer. The first 2 Ram slots are completely dead so im forced to run Dual channel memory on the last 4 working remaining slots, 12GB to be exact at Dual Channel 1700Mhz Cas 7 its pretty good and i dont have any bandwith problems , so no triple chanel for me but it does not make any diference Wink. My Marvel 9128 Sata 6Gb/s its not working after i ran 2 Vertex 3 in Raid0 for a while , getting all kind of stutering , slow downs and weird things in the OS , well it got killed by the wear and tear of the 2 Vertex 3 drives that obviously the Marvel 9128 controller could not handle, so i do not have a Marvel 9128 working on my Board either. But with this new ZioMod Bios it has given my dying board a chance to make it for about one more year when its time to upgrade , The new Mod Gave my Sata 2 INTEL ICHR10 a nice Speed Boost, my Samsung 830 128GB SSD max Out at 280 reads / 265 writes using the Intel Sata 2 ichR10 wich its not bad and feel very snapy , fast , responsive and very stable. The JMicron Controller its working Flawlesly as i had tested it with an Asus DVD Burner ripping DVDs and a WD 160GB HDD working perfectly. myCPU/Ram Overclock its as stable as a Rock on this Bios , what more can i ask for an already perfect Bios for my almost dead Mobo Smile , thanks for all the hardwork apprettiate it much guys. Kind Regards Chispy ( Team PURE @ HWBOT )

It could be related to the implementation of SLIC activation method in ZioMod bios. Standard activation is hardware sensitive, so sinders finds himself deactivated when he changed the hardware config. This method is particularly sensitive on HD, SSD and controller settings. ZioMod uses Asus Slic table to activate the OS, so it doesn't change status when you make hardware config modifications.

I take it you recommend implanting the SLIC into my BIOS just like yours for this purpose?

Can I still use my own retail license, cd key to activate Windows 7 when the SLIC has been implanted into the BIOS?
