Asus Rampage III GENE Request - Full Overhaul
#11
I'm aware the Marvell CHIP BIOS on 1029, as I mentioned above. I'm sorry about all the trouble. The BIOS you posed to me in post #2 brought the FIRMWARE of the Marvell controller down to 2.1.0.1413, which broke the controller. I took the BIOS you modded for me (thank you again) and brought it back up to FW 2.2.0.1113.

So here are all the parts to recap of the complete BIOS I posted in post #9:

ASUS main BIOS - 1003

Intel SATA controller COMPLETE OROM - 11.0.0.1339

Marvell SATA controller COMPLETE package (has two parts) -
>Marvell CHIP Firmware 2.2.0.1113
>Marvell CHIP BIOS 1.0.0.1029

Again, thanks for the help you could provide in getting me this far!

OK, I see what you mean now.
I was not really looking at this BIOS properly because I am used to my Gigabyte MB that doesn't have Marvell Firmware embeded the the BIOS.
My Marvell Chip has the Firmware on-chip and is actually Flashed separately.
I'll look at this a bit more later.

I Looked at that v2.2.0.1125 Firmware and it is MUCH Bigger than the E7 Module that was used by P4Spooky for that Modded BIOS.
I don't see anyway to make it work unless it could be properly Split into two different Modules like P4Spooky evidently did with that last version.
Without that hardware in front of me for testing, I won't even attempt that.
Apperntly that Firmware is ONLY for certain PCI-E Add in RAID Controllers that use Marvell 91xx Chips.
It was not meant to be added to an ASUS BIOS.

I asked MrToad how he got the updates that I just used, he said he used a "donor" full Asus BIOS and extracted the 3 modules from there with MMTool. Seems like that would be the easiest thing to do, but I'm not certain which Asus board/BIOS has the newest firmware.

I can try to learn more about the hex editor to properly split the Marvell OROM package, but it's completely new to me. Other option is to try and find a new BIOS from Asus for another board and extract from there, but that's going to take some time to search. Hopefully someone else here can step up and chime in! Smile

A Donor BIOS would definitely be the way to go but ASUS doesn't usually use the Newest RAID Modules in their BIOS.
