BIOS Unlock request for Acer Aspire 1700
#1
Cool First, let me say thank you very much for all the hard work on this site! Cool

I've a problem with my Acer Aspire 1700 (17" laptop).
When I try to install Windows 7 the Aspire gives a BSOD.
The info it gives is: "BIOS is not fully ACPI compilant[u]"
Even a Win7 pre-installed HD ends in a BSOD with the same message.

So, I'm mainly looking to get access to the ACPI settings to make an Win7 installation possible, but anything else you can manage would be greatly appreciated.

The installed BIOS-version is 3c14 and can be found here:
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/as.../v3C14.zip

Hello Ahmed,

Thanks a lot for your time,

It's a pitty that you didn't faced this problem before.
But maybe there is a solution in the hidden features.
Is it possible for you to unlock all these features so that I can try some different settings?
And if that's not possible then maybe sending a printscreen from the BSOD is an idea?

I have checked your BIOS again and no hidden menus or tabs were found but there are some options for graphics&LCD ........ Please use phoenix bios editor to open the WPH file and see the options in the strings and you will only find some options for graphics and lcd and others ..... all not linked to any menus and not enough space in the module to add these option .......... so determine what you need to unlock firs and i will unlock it to you .
Thank you,
Ahmed

Hi Ahmed,

I don't know or I did wel, but when I use the phoenix bios editor to open the WPH file then I get some error messages.
I made some sreendumps and posted them here:

http://imageshack.us/f/252/picture02.jpg/
http://imageshack.us/f/403/picture03t.jpg/

After those error messages the editor opens with this screen:

Here I see a lot of things but I don't understand a bit of what I see. Confused
Maybe you can help me out where to look?

One thing special got my attention when I looked at the bios-editor.
I see an ACPI module. Big Grin
This module I can't see/find in the bios on my computer, but maybe it is a solution for my problem?

Update

I've installed biosversion 3c13 because the 3c14 version made my CPU-fan continuous turn at max speed.Dodgy
That's the only difference I could find.

But still no solution for my Win7 problem.Confused
