BSOD on laptop fixable with bios flash?
#1
Hello everyone

First of all I'd like to apologist in advance if I posted this thread in the wrong section.

So ever since I've bought my laptop I've been having issues with it getting random Bsod, having a desktop and never really needing my laptop that often I didn't really try to fix it since I thought it was a driver issue. The crash codes all pointed to this or memory problems.

The Laptop is made by Q-force (Belgian brand), a QF Dura 7541-DFH.
It has the following specs:
  • i5 m460 @ 2.53 Ghz
  • 6gb ram
  • GT 425
  • Windows 8.1
  • Clevo B7130 motherboard

But since I now need my laptop a lot for school I decided to take a look at it.

After lots of re-installs (probably 10+ times) I keep getting bsod, even with clean windows installs without any drivers installed yet.

So I started looking at hardware.
First of all I tried memtest86+ because everything pointed in the direction of a bad memory stick, but after running memtest for over 28 hours and 23 passes no error's showed up (can provide picture if requested).
Next was testing my CPU with Prime95, after about 20 minutes all 4 workers had stopped so this lead me to believe that I had a defective CPU or Motherboard so I posted this to the Linustechtips.com forum. in the following thread: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/203561-bsod-laptop/
They also made me try a CHKDSK command but without succes.
The only option they had left was for me to check for a bios update because it could be a bug in the bios, after contacting clevo and a couple of other manufacturers I was unable to get a bios update so the linustechtips forum send me over to this forum and hope you guys could help me.

If you want to check my minidump files in the hope to find something else, or check the screens for the memtest en prime95 test you can find them in the following link: http://1drv.ms/1lrwph4

TL;DR: Laptop bsod probably because of hardware issue's, Hope it could be fixed with bios flash

If you guy's don't think a bios flash will fix anything feel free to just tell me. Last thing I want is to waste all your time.

Thanks in advance
