Bios Mod Request for Tyan S2665
#1
Exclamation
[/b]Hello and wonderful greez to this forum. It's nice to see some people who have the same prablems like me Wink
My Problem is not a real Problem but I'm a bit annoyed because I can't set the multiplier or the FSB in my BIOS. I think there must be more settings but I can't see them.
The BIOS Type is: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0
Bios Date: 04/06/05
Bios ID: TYAN Computer Corp. S2665 Thunder i7505 BIOS Version: 4.06Rev. 0.90FD.1357
Chipset: Intel 2550 rev 3
The Clockgenerator is ICS9248-146
I had tested the Phoenix Bios editor (Demo) but I can't change anithing... There are some things, they were greyed out, I thing they could be something like that what I want. In fact: BCP: System\ Speedswitching options - 00 - controlled on pin 23 / controlled on pin 24 / fast speed Polarity (I thing this could be the fan)
BCP: System\ Speed Configurations - 00 - Controlled on CPU Cache / controlled on External Cache / Controlled on Chipset / Controlled on Other Method

If somebody could make some menues to get work I would be very happy

Friendly Greez from Germany
Sebastian

welcome in BIOS-MODS Smile

first , please provide the original bios not the backup as the back up bios is missing the platform information and can`t be flashed .
and don`t use phoenix bios editor for modifying bioses as it corrupts it .......... use it only as an emulation for the setup utility and searching for hidden options then unlock it using hex editor and use andys tool for extracting the bios file .

the BCP ( Bios Configuration Parameters ) is just flags bytes for alot of advanced setting that control the bios behavior and alot of advanced setting and must not be modified by any one who don`t knew what he is doing as it will be modified manually in the romexe module not from Phoenix editor .
you can tell me the setting you want to modify there and i will modify it for you .

Hi, this is the Bios file what I downloaded from the manufacturer.
I thing there must be options hidden where I can set the FSB, perhapts the multiplierer and some options to the fans. They are on full speed ever.
I don't know enough by using a hex editor...
but I will be very happy when you can show the hidden options.
Thank you for reply!

Sebastian

Second Attachment: There is a picture where I think you can change the multiplier... It would be very nice because Xeon's have a free multiplier Wink

When the Bios is working I have to donate you, but is it possible to donate you by PayPal? I hope, because I don't have a creditcard...
Sorry for the Question, but I won't be thankless!

I`m sorry for my late replies , i was very busy in my study but i will be free the next 4 days .

i have checked your bios and you have the ADVANCED tab in your bios ....... do you see it in the setup utility !!
i will unlock it if you don`t see it .

but there is no options for controlling fan speed or frequency .

Yes, the ADVANCED Tab is there, I can change something, too, but on the processor settings I could change the MPS Revision and HT disable/enabe.
Nothing more... I thing there must be a way to change the FSB or the Multiplier...
But when you say, there is no way to enable these settings the I think you're right...

There is a hidden frequency ratio option but it will work only for extreme CPUs .
it will be useless for you if its unlocked as you haven`t got extreme CPU .

But there is no more important hidden options except frequency ratio ........ others is like numlock and few useless options .
you can check it with PHOENIX BIOS EDITOR in the strings tab and you will find the same as i`m telling you .

There is no way to enable this in bios as the options are not found to modify it ......... but you can use tools like set fsb to modify your fsb speed Wink and there are alot of programs for doing this .

That's not really right. CPUCool is the only way to change the fsb, but when I set the new FSB the CPU-Z utility show a higher FSB (from 133 to 133,5) and 2 seconds later it's the old one. On Software there is no way to make these settings.
What's the meaning of extreme CPU? I thing my one (better 2 Wink ) is/are the "extremes" CPU('s) what I can put on that Board...
Can you make the hidden option what you speak about, that I can change it?

The frequency ratio can work for Extreme CPUs ( CPUs which have open multiplier not locked one ) .
SETFSB can detect the clock generator and modify the FSB speed and its working perfectly .
if you got CPU with unlocked multiplier , i can unlock the frequency ratio for you and it will work perfectly .
