Bios Mod gone wrong
#1
Hi guys,
I hope this is the right place to post this...

I tried to flash a modded bios on dv6-6c60el.

Now it does not boot anymore and the screen is always black.

I tried creating an Hp_tool usb drive as described here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833.
I used the most recent tool for my laptop (sp61101.exe) but the "current" folder in the drive is empty, so I tried to put inside the lastest bios (sp60655.exe). Unfortunately I can't extract it, it just creates files like 17FCF1C.exe and F0xTOF1C.exe.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60501-61000/sp60655.exe

So I tried with an older version. I put the drive into the laptop, pressed WIN+B, the led on the usb drive blinks for some time like it's reading but then nothing happens, and the CAPS LOCK starts to blink twice (bios corruption). No way I can get HP BIOS Update screen appear.

Please someone can help?

Thanks in advance!

Riccardo

Hi! Thank you for the help.

My platform is 17F9.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-P...oduct-info

I already tried that guide but I couldn't extract the bios file from the last version on hp website, so I tried with an older version (not sure is the correct one).

thanks again

Ok use this tool to prepare your USB Stick UEFI to recover your Bios :

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp62001-62500/sp62405.exe

then rename It as HP_TOOLS and copy into all files present into Recovery Files folder
(You get It unpacking my file), then Boot from USB Stick and try !

Man... YOU ARE THE BEST!

It recovered my bios and everything is working fine!!! I don't know how to thank you.

Last question and you'll be my hero forever... Smile Is there any modified bios for my laptop? I wasn't able to find anything... Maybe something with whitelist removed or with all bios menus enabled?

Thanks again

Garo

Hi friend,
the issue is RSA Check intenal so until Donovan6k will not find a way to bypass
InsydeFlash check We can modify these bioses only using an HW SPI Prgrammer to rewrite
Bios Mod directly into Eeprom Chip !
look here (CodeRush applied the Donovan6k Hack) :

That's good!

I can try to do it. Do you think is it possible to use an Arduino as an ISP Programmer? I found some projects like this one:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-You...to-an-ISP/. Do you think this may be working?

Is the HP bios soldered onto the mainboard or is there a socket?

I would be glad to donate something for this help.

Thanks a lot again
