Bios for Lenovo s206 needed
#1
Hello,

i´m new here and not really sure if i post this in the right forum.

Anyway, as i said, i´m in need of a bios file for a Lenovo s206 Model 2638.

This Notebook has a black screen and reballing the chips didn´t work, so i guess it could be an bios related issue.

Unfortunately Lenovo doesn´t provide a bios update for this model and is also not willing to provide me with the original bios.

Instead they suggest to buy a new mainboard from their webshop for a rediculously high price, probably even more expensive than the notebook was when it was new. Angry

Of course i know that the chips could be defective too, but before i order a new chip, i want to try to reprogramm the bios.
I have a external programmer, so the programming itself isn´t a problem, i only can´t find the needed file.

Maybe someone here has a working Lenovo s206 available and could help me out.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks a lot in advance, Harald.

A few questions first pls

1. Does the Novo menu appear when you press the button beside the power?

2. Does the backlight turn on?

If you answered no to 1 and 2 then there maybe a hardware fault, otherwise i can help

1. It doesn´t have any button beside the Power-Button.

2. The backlight does not turn on.

But thanks for trying to help anyway.

As i said, there is a good chance that the hardware is defective and either the CPU or the Chipset is faulty,
but first i want to rule out that the Bios is responsible.

BTW, i also tried to connect a external monitor to HDMI, but it´s all the same, it doesn´t turn on and only shows a black screen.

If switched on, the two LED´s beside the DC-Jack turn on, after a while the vent turns on too and that´s it, nothing else happens.

Problem partly solved!

After a lot of searching i found a bios-file at a russian website which i downloaded and programmed into the chip directly.

And---yeah it works again. That means the problem was indeed caused by the bios.

Unfortunately the bios i downloaded seems to be for a s206 that runs Windows 7.

I also saved the original bios and was able to find the Win8-Key in it.

Do you guys think if i write that key into the new bios to the same adress i found it at, it would work?

Because now the Computer doesnt boot anymore from its harddrive and i guess it´s caused by the missing key.

I cant access the bios setup too, and i guess that is because Win8 didn´t shut dow correctly. Is that possible?

Best regards.

Hello, could you help me to find this russian bios? And how did you flash it into the chip?
My screen stays black too, but the leds works also.
