Biostar MCP6P M2+: Phenom II Support
#1
I've seen a few requests for someone to mod the BIOS to allow for mcp6p m2+ to support the 960T and its unlockable cores, but really all I'm interested in is the CPU recognition itself.

I love to try to give it a shot myself, but I'm not sure how to treat the .BSS files that Biostar uses for their BIOS updates. AWDBEDIT has trouble reading them as far as I can tell.

Anyway, here's the newest BIOS for this mobo:

.zip   MCP6P M2+.zip (Size: 399.39 KB / Downloads: 20)

Here's the newest BIOS for a mobo with the same chipset that supports the CPU:

.zip   GA-M61PME-S2.zip (Size: 332.2 KB / Downloads: 18)

I'm a first-timer, so please let me know if I need to post any more info.

Does anyone have any insight on how hopeful I should be for a fix? I need to get my computer up and running soon, but I'd rather save the $$$ if we can get this mobo working with that CPU.

All other mobos that support this CPU seem to use DDR3 RAM, which will end up costing me (not to mention the potential hassle of reactivating Windows)!!! I'd rather give a fraction of that cost as payment/donation for someone's hard work here Wink

good day !!!
do you already have a zosma/thuban cpu ? im not quite sure if the power supply circuity on the board is a single or a double power plane design.i think it be much better to test 95w zosma/thuban just in case as our boards would be most likely single power plane designs (the mcp6pb board is similar to your board with minor placement revisions and less slots).

Hi mikemike097,
I do have a 960T (95W zosma) right now, but I'm moving past the idea of getting it to work with my MCMP6P M2+. I've already broken down and gotten another mobo for it. Sorry, but good luck getting it to work with your board!

Hi

Here is the MCP6P M2+ Bios with the microcode from the Gigabyte BIOS that you linked to.

Try at your own risk! - Good luck!

Please confirm.

I know you gotten a different board for your zosma but im just curious does the zosma post on the biostar when you had it ?

Hi I'm new in this forum and I came here with the hopes to add CPu Support for my Legacy Motherboard Biostar MCP6P M2+ .

The problem is that I'm Using a Phenom II x4 945 125W stepping and Is recognized by the motherboard but besides of receive the Warning of More than 95W Cpu, On windows the Cpu is Stucked at 800mhz.

I Suppose this is because the Cpu Microcode is not supported.

So here I give you the latest bios for the motherboard :
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/intr..._ID=422#dl

If you can add that or give me a guide of how to do it I will really appreciate that cause' its like having a Quad Core Pentium 3 haha.

Best regards from Argentina !

Umm if you're still around you could try setting it back to the default clock via bios and/or windows be careful though you could burn the vrms with a 125w cpu in a 95w board

Any word on that link? Would like to have that bios microcode for 960T black and 1045T possibly?

Thx
