Bricked Asus fixed but no network
#1
Question
I have an older Asus P8P67 rev 3.0 motherboard.  I tried to upgrade the bios using ez-flash and it bricked the computer.  Afterwards I did the following:

  1. Pulled the socketed chip and dumped the bricked bios.
  2. Downloaded the latest bios from Asus.
  3. Used fd44editor to transfer the mac address and serial number to the new bios.
  4. Couldn’t find a system uuid sticker so I made one up (no 00’s or ff’s).
  5.  Programmed and reinstalled the chip.
  6.  Reset the bios to optimum defaults.
Afterwards the computer seems to work ok.  However, the motherboard’s network jack is not working.  There are no errors in device manager but it can’t get an ip address from dhcp and won’t work with a static address.  I tried both linux and windows os but neither worked.
Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

#2
I found a working computer with the exact same motherboard and revision number. I dumped the bios and programmed it to my chip. Unfortunately, everything still works except the network. I tried using the jumper to clear the cmos settings and loaded the default settings. The onboard network card is enabled in the bios settings. The network card shows up and there are no errors but won't connect to a network.

Is there something simple I'm missing?
