Changing CPU Name in Dell Latitude D620 Bios permanently
#1
Hi Guys,

Im an amateur in the field of Bios Modification and I was wondering if anyone of you can change the following:

1) Change the CPU name in Bios permanently, for example: "Dual Core" to "Core 2 Duo", with no changes to other configuration.

2) Change the CPU speed in Bios permanently for example: "1.66Ghz" to "2.00Ghz", with all other configurations remaining as original. Im not looking to Overclock, but just have a display speed altered to read a different value.

I do see blogs where in this change can be done within an Operating System, but Im looking for a change whether it does have an OS or not.

Is this possible?

I run a Computer outlet and receive several such requests for which Im willing to compensate monetarily if I can get in touch with an individual who can undertake such tasks regularly.

Best Regards

That's one of the strangest requests I've seen. Even more because I've never seen one.
I think you should just come clean and admit it's a 1.66GHz dual core processor. Also, that kind of information is kept on the processor and read by the BIOS, to check compatibility and load configurations, so it's not likely to be possible to alter. I believe altering that would also contribute to OS stability problems.

CPU name is read from the CPU itself. I don't think this is possible.

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile

Ahmed,

Thanks for your msg. I did provide you with a reply via PM. Did you receive it?
