DELL 6970m bios mod for m17x R2
#1
Hi,

I come here looking for help in order to merge 2 6970m bios for the DELL card shipped in m17x R3/m18x R1 to work on m17x R2.

First, the Clevo bios which have fan/sleep/shutdown working on this carc but graphic glitches/artefacts (maybe related to Clevo card and bios having samsung gddr5 and DELL card having hynix).

Second, the DELL card which work well (no glitches, no crashes) but no automatic fans, black screen of death when going to sleep/hibernate/reboot/shutdown.

I tried to edit the bios with RBE, and discovered that DELL bios lack of the fan part and overdrive which are present on the Clevo bios. So I'm looking for help to find a way to either copy the gddr5 ram part from the Dell to the Clevo bios or copy the fan/overdrive/(crossfire in bonus) from the Clevo bios.

Please help me to find a way to make it

I reply to myself, maybe it can help somebody else ...

The Clevo 6970m vbios made artefact/glitches but not the Clevo 6990m vbios, so with the 6990m vbios it works !!!

I have shutdown/reboot/sleep bug solved, overdrive and crossfire working on my DELL card ref V9XKH =)

Only the fan are not working but it doesn't seem to be a vbios problem.

I joined the Clevo 6990m vbios and a modded vbios based on it with 760gpu/960ram little overclocking.

Flash at your own risks ! ^^

I'm not sure whether I understand you completely... do you have a Dell and a Clevo card? And the Clevo card has working fans and the Dell card not, right?
I might be mistaken but if I remember correctly it is a hardware issue. On the M15x the Clevo card will never have automatic fan control, not even with the Dell vbios (which works fine on that card) and the Dell card works fine regarding fan control, no matter which vbios.
It's exactly the other way round on the M17x R2, but the problem persists, afaik you can't get the automatic fan control to work with the Dell card in the M17x R2.
There's a workaround though, you can use HWiNFO and set it up to automatically control your fans, it works really nice and you won't have to worry anymore.

The Clevo cards work with the Dell vbios and vice versa, you can easily flash the card to see whether it makes a difference.
