DELL D620 support for T7400 rev G0
#1
Hello there,

sorry if there are any gramatical mistakes, but i'm from Germany.
Hope you can help me.

I receivee a Dell D620 from job, with build in T5600.

So i read the specs and saw that a T7200 / T7400 / T7600 is possible to build in.

Now i build in a T7400, and it works fine. But everytime when i boot, there comes following message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***Processor Microcode Update Failure***

The revision of processor in the system is not supported.

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The problem is not only the message, also the boottime is now very long.
When i press F1 and login into Windows it all works fine.

But i guess the problem is, that there are diffrent revisions /steppings out there for the T7400.

The revision of my T7400 is G0. The A10 BIOS is already installed.

Anybody an idea how to fix it? Or can somebody please update the revision to the A10 BIOS and mod it for me? (Or explain me what i have to do for modding, so i would do it self.)

thx for help.
Greetings from Germany
Sebastian

I know a T7200 SL9SF (B2) works in a D620, so I'm sure a T7400 SL9SE (B2) would work. Did you mean T7400 SLGFJ (G2), not G0? Have you tried removing the CMOS battery, main battery, and power for a few minutes?

This replaces B2 microcode with G2. If there is a problem, try switching back to an original system processor, such as a T2300 or T2500. Also, please let us know if this works! We need the feedback for future modifications.
