DELL M18X A03 BIOS THROTTLE REMOVAL GTX580M SLI
I meant that I've only seen GPU0 hitting 80*C. The second card never reached 80*C. The primary card tends to heat up more.

@Barcode : what was the throttling temp before !!
was it 73c !
please check the new HWINFO tool and see if throttle is at the same temp.
@angelknight : i think the A00 bios will lead you to make a blind flash and no need to flash it now .
you can flash the Unlocked A03 bios only ....... also , do you have 580M GPU !
if yes , you can try too use the new HWINFO tool .

Mumak, the throttle is still there. I believe it is only temperature related, at least at my end. it is enough to heat up any of the two cards to 80*C (it is always the primary card taking generally higher load) for the throttle to kick in and it does not matter if we are talking stock or OCed clocks. When OCed, the cards simply heat up faster -> easier to hit 80*C.

When the throttle kicks in, the cards downlock down to "idle clock", so 50/135/101 (gpu/mem/shader), for a few tens of seconds and then go back to function normally.

I just tried your anti-throttle build and when only the temperature on GPU0 hit 80*C the throttle kicked in.

Thanks for testing 0x29a, currently cant test!
My gpu 0 and 1 temps never pass 72c on stock or overclocked clocks and im still getting throttled under heavy load. Unless HW is reading the temps wrong, which i doubt!

Also Ahmed now that we have a proper A00 bios (I know no throttle is evident in this bios), i might flash this A00 bios within Windows and i know it wont support the 580m, But i can blind recovery to A02 or A03 which wont flash the EC will this work!!

My throttle has never been temp related as i said before my temps never raise above 72 i've even seen throttle at 65 but heavy power loading

@barcode : did the other tools like everest ultimate and others , read the same temp !! or you found it different .

All my tools im using to check temps for eg gpuz hw everest throttlestop are all showing max72C even furmark shows max 72 while benching

Hi Angelknight010,

I used an older version of insyde to flash the older a00 bios which was not complete it had to be renamed bios.fd not the Johnknss version (I havent tried the Johnkness version) but kept getting a ec error at the end of the flash so im guessing the EC was never really flashed.

Good to see more testers coming on board, as i know this must be so frustrating for 580m users.

My gpu is 6990m,and I just want to flash it back to A00 so that I can use my 2960xm by a full 4-core load of 4500mhz,instead of the 3900 highest of a02 or a03,grrrrrr......sorry for my poor English again.......

Ok man~I will try some method to find a way to get the full bios including EC FW!

Well im sorry to disappoint you but the A00 bios WILL NOT support the 6990M OR 580M.

Dell offically released all 6990M AND 580m WITH A02 BIOS ONLY!

A00 is only for 460m and 6970m

@barcode : sorry , i haven`t seen that you modified your post :-
No , simply this will not work because of these reasons :-
1 ) you will not be able to flash the A00 from windows as the flashutility will generate error and will not flash the ECFW .
2 ) if you flashed the A00 using blindflash , this will not flash the ECFW too .
3 ) the only way to flash the A00 bios is by using modified flash utility ( adjusted not to flash the ECFW then we will see if we are 100% sure its controlled by the ECFW not the bios .......however im sure now that its cintrolled by the ECFW but we can easily try it Smile )

4 ) if you found anyway to flash the A00 bios completely , then the EC will be bricked as it will be flashed with padding bytes ( i`m sure its impossible to flash the ECFW in the A00 as it didn`t has it )

i will make modified flash utility now to flash the A00 .

@angelknight : this will not be possible as the A00 didn`t support your GPU .

thanks a lot barcode and Ahmed
i have tried the older A00 file already(the file name is Alienware-A00.rar)
And it go with my 6990m perfectly
But it can't solve the frequency issue
So I want to get the proper version of the bios
Thanks again!

So what your saying here is you flashed A00 and 6990m has been detected in bios hmmm! interesting.
Ok wait for Ahmed's modded flash utility and try flashing johnksss version of the full A00 bios, take care tho!!
Also note no bios is going to fix your frequency issue, the M18X throttles the CPU at 85c regardless, if in the future this can be brought up to the 95limit this would help your cause.
Everyone with a 2920xm cpu suffers throttle, unless we can adjust the fans to full bolt 24/7
