Dell Optiplex 3050 upgrade to 9th gen

Hi, First time posting here literally a newbie on the whole modding scene. 

Recently got a Dell Precision 3431 with an i7 7900 and I plan on eventually upgrading that to i9 9900 (still looking for a good deal), few hours ago I came across a facebook marketplace post on a Dell Optiplex 3050 barebones for a really good price and noticed that it shares the same socket as my i7. 

Is it possible at all to use my i7 9700 on a Optiplex 3050? 

Saw mix answers, so I wanted to ask here since I've seen some people have relative success in doing so.
