Dell Optiplex 990 - Slic 2.3 Request
#1
Requesting a Dell 2.3 Slic be added for Windows Server 2012 R2.

-Manufacturer: DELL
-Model: OPTIPLEX 990
-Bios revision: A18
-Bios Type: Phoenix BIOS
-Bios Download Link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/7la19n
-RW Everything Report Download Link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/hsm0cj

I was able to use the Pheonix Tool 2.56 to read the updater (exe) directly and add the Slic.  Once it completes successfully it saves the file as a .hdr.  I do not know if I am doing something wrong and I do not know how to flash a .hdr file.

Thanks for all your help!

Ok friend,
when PMT cannot repack the .exe file is for an issue (normaly is a Checksum error)
and It's alomst complicated to recalc It manualy !
So there are two ways to reflash the .HDR file :

1. Use the original Bios .exe file as comand to flash the bios.gz file You got from PMT !
e.g. O990-A18.exe -readgz (this would be executed from an USB Stick Booting in Dos)

https://www.wimsbios.com/forum/notebook-...t6739.html

2. Use DCCU Dell Client Configuration Utility (or new version DCM) to repack a Bios Update from an HDR file !

http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/...on-utility

Use Google to find all informations !
Let me know
regards

P.S. I have not tried yet to flash so as I haven't any Dell PC so report the result !

The Bios updater exe does not have the command line arguments to flash a .gz file. Also, I tried the DCCU and it doesn't work on EFI BIOSs. Is there any other options?

Which is Bios updater ? You tried to use O990-A18.exe -readgz from Dos ?
Preparing an USB Dos Fat32 bootable copying the files into . . .

O990-A18.exe
bios.gz

Then from CLI C:\

tried to execute O990-A18.exe -readgz ?

Others options I will ask to a friend of mine Dell Bioses Expert and I will report here !

I have tried /readgzfile and -readgzfile from DOS and neither work. Are those the ones youre referring to or should I just try "-readgz" without the file?

Thanks for your help.  I am stuck on this one.

LosSantosPro, thanks for your help.

It finds two flash devices:
W25Q64BV ID:0xEF4017 Size: 8192KB
W25Q16BV ID:0xEF4015 Size: 2048KB

I get the message "Error 104: the 2 SPI flash devices do not have compatible command sets"
