Dell XPS One A2010
#1
Hi,
I recently tried to upgrade the graphics card in this machine from the ATI 128mb HD 2400 to an ATI 512mb HD 3650, but have been stopped at a black screen. The machine posts and can hear it loading windows. Is there a BIOS mod to make the machine recognise the new card. I think this is an AMI bios as stated in a previous thread. Thanks for any help in advance.

Doesnt seem like a BIOS related issue mate , possibly a driver problem. If your machine has onboard video , try booting from the onboard with the new card plugged in , then uninstalling your old graphics drivers in Windows and installing the drivers for your new card. Once the correct drivers have been installed , shutdown the machine and connect the monitor to the new graphics card then try to boot up with it again.

If you can access the BIOS while the new card is in , have a look for any option where you may have to choose between AGP/Onboard and PCI-E for your graphics card (I cannot look in this bios to find out sorry!)

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, this is an all in one pc, but like a laptop inside, so it is an mxm card, I dont think it has onboard graphics as there is nowhere in the BIOS to change this. I cant even see the post screen but the PC boots as normal, just with a blank screen. I will try uninstalling old card drivers and installing new ones before fitting. Thanks again

Hey,

I know this is an old thread, but I ordered the same video card for my Dell A2010 and I was wondering if you were able to get it working. I couldn't find any information on the net about upgrading the graphics on this model. Thanks.

I would contact our moderator "jonnomer" regarding this, as he's pretty skilled at video card upgrades.

Same here, The BIOS seems to hava a white list with exactly one MXM video card, and that is Dell's "HD 2400". Is it possible to remove this white list or add other cards to it?[/align]

Hello. Does anyone manage to identifies the lines on the bios related to the white-list mxm video card for this Dell XPS One A2010? I have a month trying to get an answer. I always I find or an incomplete forum or pictures deleted, its unbelievable! I use mmtool and extract all the files compressed and uncompressed and can't find any line about any graphic card in order to modifie the bios. And who claims he did has the posted pictures deleted. Is like whatever I do I just can't find the complete answer, like when I am almost there something has to be wrong, either deleted pictures or expired download links etc...is like all is done in purpose...I can't believed...I just go mad. All I need is to indentifie those lines and I will make a working bios for almost any graphic card and I will post the results here. Please if anyone can help me. Thank You millions.
