ECS 945GZT-M (945GZ/CT-M): CPU Support

So no mod can help you.

Is it possible to inject microcodes for newer Core 2/Pentium Dual Core CPUs into the BIOS, then?

I think that wil not help.
Adding microcode doesn't add support for new CPUs.

Heart
Hello, guys!

I am a - mostly - happy user of ECS 945GZ/CT-M (based on i945GZ and 82801GB).
Today I tried to put a E5800 into it.
I've taken the original Bios ROM (see attached) and added a E5800 microcode into it (see attached).
However still after booting I get this (and a locked multiplier/disabled SpeedStep):
A 200 mhz system bus processor is installed. This processor is not supported on this system board, and will run at reduced processor clock speed. System performance will be impacted. Do you wish to continue to boot at 38528MHz system bus and reduced processor speed? (Y/N) Press [Y] to continue or press [N] to shutdown.

Question 1: Is it possible to make my mobo support this CPU? If yes, how? If not, why?

Question 2: Who "outputs" that error message? I don't think it is BIOS as the BIOS should know that it is NOT running @38528 but @200 MHz.

Question 3: What exactly is not "enough" at this point? Why providing a correct booting code (microcode, that's like a bios's bootloader to load a target CPU, right?) is not enough to load this CPU?

Thanks!

P.S. Currently I am running E4700 @220MHz FSB with no problems at all.

What happens when you press [Y]?

The system successfully boots with the multiplier locked to 6x and SpeedStep disabled. So speed/performance is comparable to Celeron 420.
I understand the possible workaround of using an autostarted ThrottleStop to try and unlock the multiplier. However I would love to find a better way: preferably to patch the current ROM so that it would seem as if it supports E5800 natively.

Boot with E5800, make and post TXT report of CPU-Z.

Its hardware impossible, because 45nm needs a new voltage module named VRM11
your max cpu support for this is conroe (core 2 duo e6xxx)
maybe you can get the Q6600 with bios mod at least

No, you're wrong. 45nm (Wolfdale) & 65nm (Conroe) use the same VRM.

This chipset (945GZ) doesn't support quad core CPU.

Thanks for your reply! I've attached the report!
