Gateway 450sx4 memory limit removal?

Hello all,
I found this forum whilst doing research on bios feature unlocking; I have a gateway 450sx4 which I am prepping to be given to someone who is in need of a computer. The laptop has the i845d chipset which is rated by Intel for up to 2 GB, however the laptop will not post with more then 512mb installed. I suspect that this is an artificial limitation imposed by gateway rather then a hardware limitation; however I lack the technical ability to confirm and possibly correct this in time.
I am supposed to get this sent out Monday,
Would anyone here possibly be willing to take a look at the bios and see if there is a limit on memory set, and if so lift that limitation?

Hi Ashrond,

the RAM is limited by the TOLUD register in the BIOS , i haven't tried to modify this register before and i don't knew what values should be set to this register.
